Thanks for the blue tac idea! Found time to fill the 10 cm gap on passenger door and it seems to of stopped the buzzing. Didn't take much of the stuff and used a credit card to push in to gap. Gonna get a black marker to go over so it can't be seen. Cheers!

Does anyone who's cured the rattle with white tac or plastic inserts have hints as to where to apply them? By this I mean, are there one or two key places to "wedge" to stop it? I'd prefer to keep it to a minimum! Also, I'd like to avoid blue tac as I imagine that'd potentially make a bit of a mess if it needs to come off in the future.

+1 on this.

My passenger door is doing it and driving me mad...to the point where I might do something stupid like trade it in!

Ordered and dispatched. I'll give it a go, have some rattle mat, slightly thinner than what's shown earlier in the thread but should do it.

Has anyone got a link to images of the door cards removed? I've seen the YouTube video which is basic enough and really don't want to mess it up.

Rattle back! Or should I say a slight buzzing on poor roads (manchester has lots). Gonna remove blue tack and gush thin strip of spongey felt. If this doesn't work then dealer can have a go.
Still, I love the car and as many people say on this forum- most cars have rattles / odd noises . I was in a very expensive fairly new merc the other week and it sounded much worse than mine!

I don't have rattles anymore but I do get a loud knocking noise in the doors when driving over potholes and similar. Maybe this is the sort of noise everyone else call it rattle?

No idea how to get rid of it.[:@]

Mine went in to dealer for rattle in passenger door. Apparently it was outside the chassis number range for the recall but they basically ended up doing the same thing (sounded like a lot of foam-backed tape from what the service advisor said). Early signs were positive but I'm reluctant to get too excited yet.

Same here, mine was apparently not part of the recall however they still managed to fix it.

Sorry to bring this up.... again! But after my car went in to have a rattle in the passenger door fixed, I began to notice a different rattle. Where the old rattle would happen over rough tarmac, the new one was only if going over potholes or perhaps expansion gaps on the motorway.

In addition to this, I noticed that a new issue was apparent - when opening and closing the passenger door, I'd sometimes hear a "squeak". Anyway, it was annoying me so much that tonight I took a look and began by removing the cover to the screw behind the main handle you use to shut the door.

To my surprise, the screw behind this panel was only half screwed in. Easy fix, I thought and brought out the screw driver. However, it seems the screw only wants to go in half way! Rather than the technician investigating why they've obviously gone - oh that'll do. However, the screw being half way was worse than useless as this was causing the squeak - when the door rubbed against the screw it was causing this noise.

I didn't have the time (nor the skill probably) to take a better look at night so I've fashioned a large washer out of some spare plastic I had and now the screw pulls flush to the panel as intended. Took it for a quick spin around the block and the rattle in the rear of the car is now next on my agenda :p It seems you only notice the loudest one in the car!

Thought I'd mention this unless someone else may have a dodgy-fitting screw somewhere causing grief.
