I had the car off the road for a few months over the winter having work done.
Iv now noticed the key in or lights on alert doesnt work, an same with if i unlock the car and open a door it still locks automatically within the time so im thinking the switch for telling if the doors open or not is faulty? Where is it located?

Easier to just replace the door lock mechanism. Expensive at £80-£90 part only, but a few weeks back I managed to find a new one for sale at £50. :D

Aye I found that last night, think il give it a go :) any people tried it? How easy is it to get the actual pkastic button out and back in? Fiddly?

I tried repairing it, with a new microswitch from RS Components, cost about a fiver plus P+P if I remember correctly.

Long story short, was a right fiddly thing to do, took 2 or 3 times as long to attempt repair than it takes just to change the whole unit. And even after my attempted repair, it started off fine but just a few days later it began to work only intermittently. Before 2-3 weeks later when it gave up the ghost again completely. That's when I decided to replace the whole mechanism.
