Door strips

Can these be easily taken off??

If so, what is underneath - holes???
I have just bought a 98 TDI in yellow as a daily work horse.

I have cupra rims and 40mm springs sitting to go on but need the strips removed - they look ****!

Anyone removed the strips before?

They're bonded on I think

They'll peel off, but alot of elbow grease to get any gunk off.

As long as there is no holes if be happy...

Is the door flush or indebted for the strips??

should be flush and as Stu says , its just a lot of elbow grease to get them off and leave the doors looking tidy

theyre stuck on with double sided tape.
take it steady or youll pull the paint off underneath

Confirm they are stuck on with two strips of double sided tape and so will just peel off. Took me about 10 hours with a credit card to get all the glue off both sides! Tried turps, meths, water, heating it up with hair dryer etc. but it was just sheer hard work with the edge of a credit card. Good luck.

be careful though, I've removed the ones off my 2.0 8v Mk2 and they revealed several patches were the laquer has lifted when they were removed

probably just going to put them back on again to sell it

There used to be a specific product on the market for getting the glue off but last time i wanted some i couldnt find it. Mate used it on his, bloody good stuff. Shame i cant think of it name
