has it always been like this? i know my old octavia had this in the settings,whereby it would only open the drivers door you get in and open the rest.

When you say the other doors only open when you press the button on the drivers door, do all of the other doors work okay?
If they do, then you have potentially the same problem as me. My remote fob will only unlock the drivers door and to open the remaining 3 doors I need to either turn the key in the drivers side door lock or use the button on the drivers door which then unlocks the remaining doors. When I press the lock button on the key fob though, all of the doors lock fine.
This leads me to believe that the central locking mechanism in itself is ok and that it is just a setting of some sort.
I asked the same question on the VAG section of PH and they suggested that it's something to do with the convience menu settings which anyone with VAG-com should be able to set for you. I haven't otten round to doing this yet though as I'm kinda busy atm.
