Gasket seal is like a paste/glue/compond you put between the join that fills the area when the 2 objects you are trying to mate together are compressed onto each other, where as the oem gasket is a mechanically cut gasket specific to the 2 objects you are trying to mate together.

Gasket seal can be used in the event that you don't have a specific gasket avaiable

1J0253115R = Turbo / downpipe gasket (£2.59 ex VAT) so will just pop into my local VW dealers, if they are helpful i will get the bolts too.

picked up the gasket today, it is made of metal, i thought it would have been another material. the dealer couldnt locate the item at first so i kicked off and then the manager had a look and found it, relief then hit me. so thats new gasket, nuts and washers. hopefully the exhaust place will have the other gaskets when they mate up my oen cat. fingers crossed now thatthe nuts come of ok...
