Turbo to downpipe nuts..

Removed the backbox and mid section, now at the front...

What tools do I require to get to the nuts properly? Should I be undoing them from the top or the bottom?

Believe I need a universal joint and some stubby spanners.. Is there anything else I could do with, other than the obvious ratchets etc!

Thanks

Tom

i found it easyer go under car join a good couple of extensions together with rachet do it tha way . if not use spanners . be even harder when you replace bigger down pipe .

i used loads of extensions and went from under neath . stubby no good lol u carnt get leaverige to tighten lol. whens u go underneath ull see what i mean .

Just done this recently. I use S bend spanners, a straight spanner and medium size rachet witha flexi head. size 17

For extra room, remove heat sheild for brake lines.

not as fun as puttin my mani on though is it dave lol

try fitting an uprated one there are still 2 bolts that are too close to the runners to do up impossible lots of swearing was involved lol

i know, its tight down there, used cheap halford rachets (£9 set:D ) with a jack back to tighten  holds well. lol

Was an impossible nightmare! Left the standard one on and put the rest back together for now!

Anyone in the midlands area fancy earning a bit of dosh???

lol yeah you right there tom lol swearing :cartman:. we will get there in the end ;)

just a quick tip... get some new downpipe nuts from seat/vw... the old 17mm nuts have been replaced with 16mm ones.

This means theres more room between the nut and the pipe it's self.. and allowed me to get a socket on the nuts from underneath for refitting (also makes future removal easier), where i couldn't with the original nuts.

When i did this job i found removing the driver side driveshaft, and the heatshield around the CV joint (gearbox end) made life much easier.

Good Luck lol

All sounds a nightmare, sure you don't want to do it for beer tokens Paul?

I might try a few places for quotes, just in case its worth it!
