This doesn't appear to be a popular modification on here as at face value you get much more bang for your money with a remap.
But for those interested in a better throttle response and a more free revving engine while having warranty intact at least on paper, I can say I really am enjoying this modification.

Not very scientific but some indication, but in 6th completely off the throttle at 2000rpm, spool up time to full boost seems to be practically halved from a lethargic ~4s to an acceptable ~2s. Not that I drive like that, it's just a measure for the change that happened, already on the throttle part load in a lower gear and the engine is genuinely enjoyable now as soon as you step on it and Cupra engine throttle mode suits it really well now.

Subjectively when driving in a sporty fashion, the turbo lag is no longer disturbing me and for me really hightened the total driving enjoyment of my manual car. With DSG and depending on your driving style, you might not notice it at all...

Great mod. Still enjoying how this changed the willingness and eagerness of the engine. If you are serious about driving enjoyment/engagement and less about who wins hypothetical dragraces in the pub discussions that irl would mean instant jail time, look no further. It's fwd after all...

Hi

I was wondering if the downpipe is generic for the gen3 EA888 engines?

For a 280 ST would the same one as fits the 280/290 SC & 5 door be suitable?

Is it the same as the Golf R & Audi S3 or is the one for the Golf GTI used, taking into account that there may well be changes to accommodate the 4wd.

I know there are differences between the exhausts further down the system. I'm just interested in which would be the correct downpipe for my car. I've noticed a scorpion one on Awesome GTI for either the Golf R or the Golf GTI and was wondering which one to go for when my warranty runs out, in about a year from now.

Thanks in advance for your help

Our cars have the R Turbo but are more GTI in exhaust layout. Best is to check with whoever is selling the downpipe. Mine is EU6 approved (catted) so there are no emission related check engine lights.
