Downsizing Alloys!!!

I know your all thinking why would you downsize alloys, but my question is that can I put my old leon cupra 16" alloys on my LCR 210 which has 18" temperaily (cant spell) as i need to send my 18's away for powder coating.

Not a chance mate, if you have brembos they simply will not fit over the calipers.

You could get away with some 17" alloys but like Spaniels points out they will need to clear the calipers.

just get 2 done at a time mate it'll look and handle a bit funny but it will sort your problem.

I no this thread has been inactive for a while but im looking at possibly getting a set of smaller alloys for winter tyres, what sort of sizes am i looking at for a 2005 LCR they will obviuosly need to clear the brembos.

its not a simple as just saying a size.

In fact there are many many alloys that are 18" that do not clear the brembo capilers on the LCR. It is surprising how many alloys dont fit the LCR.

YOu will probably find that the width or clearance inside the alloy face is more important then the diameter, asit is this that restricts what alloys will fit the LCR. (ie that when you put the alloys on the car, the brembos may fowl against the rear of the alloy face, not so much an issue of fowling the inside of the diameter face).
Although i am sure there is a limit how small you can go diameter wise.
Of course generally as the diametr reduces on size, so does the width, but then thinner tyres are what you want in snow.

Some alloys you see on LCRs will only fit with the help of spacers.
