Drivers Door Locked and won't re-open!!!

Recently I had my Leon Cupra broken into, stereo stolen, and they smashed the drivers window to get in.

I took the car home from wher it was parked and left it overnight in my garage as it was late, the following morning I managed to get the car out of the garage and lock it, but when I went back to open it, it wouldn't.

All the other doors/boot will lock & unlock except for the drivers door. I have tried everything, and even autoglass couldn't get the door open. They say it is possibly some glass falling down the inside of the door that has screwed the locking mechanism?

JCT Seat have said they need to remove the door card to get the door open, but becuase the door wont open they'll have to break the door card.
This obviously will be quite costly!

Anyone have any ideas? As I have a car with one door that wont open, a broken window and a missing stereo! :help:

You mean rip the old door card out myself and fit the new one myself? That I can do, however, how do I get the lock off that door? If it's deadlocked will i be able to move it?

Ah yes, see where your going with that one! Might be worth a scan on ebay later (when not on a works pc) or a trip to the scrap yard to see if they have a good cond one lying around.

I was in the same boat as you, when i bought my pulsar the passener wouldnt open from either side. The way around it was do it from the inside,

Im sure on the leons there must be some havey duty nuts which needs to be removed 1st, look at the guide section on how to remove the panel and find the spot where the screws are located ;)
. think its located when you remove the door handle cover or when you pull out the window switch.
There also some screws at the bottom of the door but you may be able to get away with as the door card can bend abit. Once you removed the majour nuts from the door handle/ or window swicth,
Lift the top part of the door car and push it towards you. may want to push the seat back as door card will get in the way!

hope this helps, but on the leon they abit more of a hassle !

But the door card won't come off without the door being open???
I've had all the clips, screws, bolts etc off the door card but it is stick inbetween the dash and the door, and without opening the door it wont come off.

IIRC you can pick up the plastic trim clips that hold the door on for about 3 quid for a pack of ten.

They WILL break when they come off :)

Where from? Can I get these from a Seat dealer?

If so it may be a better option for me

BRILLIANT! Thanks Uncle Fester and everyone else.

Think I'll try and fix it myself rather than getting SEAT to do it!

Yes I tried the key. Have managed to get the door card off (with the door shut) and hardly damaged it, think I broke two clips thats all!

Just need to take the inside metal panel off to get to the lock now, then see if I can get the door open!

Got the metal panel off and found a spring loose in the bottom of the door that was a part of the lock, put it back on then took the car into autoglass for the window replacing.

Car is now back to normal, although my pocket still hurts from the £500 stereo missing and £60 cash gone for my glass XS. Little B**tards!
