Hi all, the 6 bolts that hold the CV axle into the drive flange have all snapped, have the shaft out on the bench. Trying to get the flange out and theres an allen/hex key in the middle holding it in (i think) when i undo it the whole flange is spinning. Does anybody know how to get it out?

Hi mate it should just pull off but I’m going to assume yours is seized and as the bolts have snapped you won’t be reusing it so I’d hammer it off with a punch. Try and spray some wd40 into the part that goes into the casing tonight and then try it in the morning it might loosen it off a touch.

Hi mate, I dont think its seized as the flange is spinning when turned. There is a bolt holding the actual flange to transmission down the centre of it. When undoing that centre bolt the flange spins is there a certain way to stop it spinning or just go with prybar? I have watched lots of vids on youtube but none of them have this bolt, just a circlip.

That’s strange I’ve not had that ever. Could you use mole grips to clap the flange and then gun the middle but off with a impact?

Got it removed with a prybar and ratchet(and alot of swearing). Will post picture of the bolt holding flange in. Now to replace CV joint and install shaft ? and hope thats the only problem
