DSG KickDown

Afternoon all,

I was driving yesterday (16 plate 1.6 TDI DSG) on the motorway, around 70mph and wanted to pass the car in front so I planted the foot.

I was currently in D7 and the kickdown took me to D5. now usually when I do this, the revs will rise and I'll notice the almost immediate uptake in speed.

Unfortunately from yesterday, the revs seemed to limit at 3000rpm and there wasn't that uptake in speed.

I tried out the kickdown on lower speeds (while off the motorway) and there didn't seem to be any issues that way, it picked up fine and you could feel the acceleration but afterwards, taking it back to 70 replicated the initial issue.

Has anyone experienced this, car is going in for a service on Wednesday, I'll mibbe mention when I take it in.

Looks like regular Drive mode.

Prehaps flick it to S (eg..pull gear towards the back of car, will put car into S7) and floor it, see if it does solve the problem. I'm guessing you did push the pedal till the floor button below? Or just put into into manual overide...flick gear to left, and pull down, and shift accordingly.

With my old 2.0TDI DSG, even when floored in D, it never uses the full revs, goes to about 4.2k and it upshifts.

*Edit: were you on cruise control / limiter at the time? I may vaguely remmeber this once...on my 2.0TDI..tried flooring when still on CC.

Thanks for the responses,

Driving it today on the motorway at 70 in D7, put the foot to the floor and I'd kicked down to D5 with the revs reaching 3500rpm.

Despite the foot being down, the revs dropped, as did my speed, it settled at 3000 before rising again and picking up speed.

Noticed the Engine Management Light coming on today aswell so I have a feeling it's set itself into Limp Mode.

Its mibbe 1000 miles past the service date unfortunately but due to working full time and new addition to the family I've not been able to get it in until tomorrow.

Hopefully then it will rectify.

When you get it back from service give it a tank full of Shell vpower nitro plus diesel or Esso Supreme diesel...What diesel do you use usually?

Unfortunately it's 'council' diesel I'm putting in, can't get any premium from the pumps local to me.

Garage just called, problem with one of the pumps supplying the diesel. Getting repaired under warranty.

I see, I guess your fuel filter has been clogged from the 'council' diesel as you put it.

Could very well be the case. They have to keep it in overnight so I'm waiting on an Audi A3 being delivered as my courtesy car, might break it more often.
