Hi I'm posting this on behalf of my friend who has just brought a cupra 290 dsg, he wants to remap it but he isn't sure if he just needs a standard remap or a dsg remap or both? As he has spoken to Apr who said 200 pounds and you just need a remap but Revo said you need a dsg Remap and it's costs 800 what does he need?

No need for DSG remap bellow certain power. APR explains this and REVO too.

You generally don't need the DSG map if you get an ECU map unless you start pushing the car beyond stage one, then it is recommended. At stage 3 it is pretty much required.

It makes a huge difference. I was sceptical about the DSG map until I got one on my previous car. It is well worth the money. @Damo H has Racingline OEM+ stage one and the Racingline DSG map.

If you drove a car with a DSG tune and one without, you would certainly notice a difference.

Thanks for the info :) I'll let him know

£200 for APR???? very much doubt that! Firstly I'd check on goapr.co.uk that the people he has spoken to are actually an APR dealer.

I remember a few years ago a company up north were selling a companies software but weren't actually a dealer, what they were doing is selling cheap software (like £50 chinese maps) for like £500+

You don't "need" DSG file but they make it a lot nicer to drive.
