Dump valves?

Thanks for that tip I will do that. It was more the whoosh sound when changing gear I was after but as I said I don't really know much about dump valves to be honest. Iv seem some on eBay and heard a lot of people say they have forge dump valves. If I was to replace the standard dump valve to something like a forge would I gain anything?

I have been told I will gain an extra 40 bhp roughly with my remap so looking forward to that.

if your looking to update you dump valve I would recommend a forge 008p, in the 10months iv had my leon it's never missed a beat.

Am I right in thinking that if you install an open cone air filter to the standard dump valve there will be the 'woosh' some people look for? If so that could be a cheaper route for fran to take

As said above, iv got the forge 008 aswell, had a nasty split-r valve on before which again as has been said, kept throwing the EML as the air was missing (i brought the car like that before i get told off:D)

But to address the 'whooshing' sound Fran desires, i removed the bonnet lining, fitted the 008, already had an open cone filter, its been remapped, and i get a whoosh sound when changing gear. Not as loud as probably whats desired, but definately noticeable.

No gain at all. If anything the forge will need regular servicing otherwise it can stick or leak.
The usual diaphram dvs are smoother and dont need servicing, last for years.

Porter555 thanks so much for helping me to understand it. I think I will do all the other things before a dv. The sound isn't a must to be honest just looking at things that I can be getting on with :)

Thanks lee I will do this. Then it's just a matter of working out how to take the panel filter out and fit one of these haha. Thanks everyone

one thing to mention is the jetex filter linked above is an 80mm kneck where as our auq cupras need 70mm you can buy the two parts need to upsize it for about 25quid i think

you will need a 80-70mm reducer
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360608811...eName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

and the straight joiner

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Custom-Al...t=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item25709738bc

this pushes the air filter closer to the wing but will need securing properly to stop the engine bouncing the maf sensor about

Thanks for that azza. I think I will be looking at something different to the jetex as I'd like a red one to match my car

yeah got a red leon to, altho pre facelift i just went with the jetex as my mate had one on his s3 and i new id get a woosh when changing gears

i HAD a baileys dv30 fitted and that sounded like a atmospheric dump valve with the jetex but you can definatly hear the standard dv alot more with a cone filter and as mentioned they dont need servicing and are cheap as chips to replace!

you can get red universal ones on ebay, but the filter linked above has had hundreds of people trying it so its a known good one

also check out

http://www.jetex.co.uk/website/colourfilters.php?insided=70mm

some coloured ones there from the same company
