I drove from Co.Waterford on the south coast of ireland to East Yorkshire Retrofits to have a reversing camera installed in my 2021 Ateca SE. This involved a ferry to and from mainland UK. In order to accommodate my travel arrangements the installation took place on a Sunday morning. The camera has worked perfectly ever since, about 3 years now.
I cannot recommend East Yorkshire Retrofits highly enough. Very competent, totally professional, I regarded the effort I made and the price I paid as good value.

Why did i not specify a factory fitted reversing camera when i odered the car in late 2020? I have long been doubtful about the benefit of automatic lights and automatic wipers. Waze is better IMHO than any factory fitted GPS. The android phone connects easily to the basic infotainment system via Android Auto. The factory fitted camera was only available as part of an expensive higher specification that simply held no value for me.

I prefer to be in control of as much as possible in the car. I'm dubious LED screens replacing the clockmakers art in the dashboard. Despite the increased information on them contain. I much prefer to drive and do things for myself. Hence the basic SE spec when I ordered my car which back then came with clocks. I instead spent the funds on a 2.0TDI engine, 4-drive (since I have a twin axle trailer), a sunroof, a DSG box and of course a factory fitted tow-hook.

I'm still happy with this choice. The East Yorkshire Retrofits camera installation completed my ideal spec.

As I've had to leap out of the way of cars in supermarkets without reversing cameras it should be illegal in this day and age to sell cars without reversing cameras. People just jump into them and reverse without looking. o_O Possibly use to their other car having full ultrasound and blind spot / rear cross, they just hit reverse and go for it.

Seat hacked some of the "luxury" touches off the standard Ateca presuamble to get the price point down and put Cupra Atecas as the luxury offer at the time. Back in 2016 at launch the seats in the non Xcellence models were pretty basic. You'd really got to sit in each model offer to decide. In 2016 you could order the models with lots of optional features that that are now chopped out. Panoramic roof, blind spot, traffic assist, tow bracket etc. The boot at the time if not bought how you wanted it couldn't be changed. The parts didnt exist. Two level etc.

Your PCP cars are basically owned by the VAG group untill they are paid off. I tend to think they are happy not to have the options to order extra bells and whistles so the range is more specific so when the cars are sold on they are easily shifted. That's my theory. The days of optionally buying extra bits are the build time are gone in many cases. Marketing hype on the branding category.

This is where your retrofitter comes in to turn your substandard car missing the bits into the one you want if you dont want to pay for the whole lot at purchase or cant buy it. Sorts out some of the anarchy in how the cars are sold between the Vag brands.

I would disagree on Waze cartography however. East Yorkshire Retrofit are excellent 👌.
