I think it works as follows:
Blank: Normal Aircon
Auto: Climate Control
Econ: Same as a normal heater without Aircon
Both: Adjusts the temperature to the set level but without using the aircon
Is this right?
I dont know.... vag com this, vag com that.... if you find out though share the knowledge![]()
I don't fully understand my climatic system. I seem to be able to have auto by itself displayed, econ and auto displayed, just econ displayed and no econ or auto displayed. I can't work out what the difference is between them all.
I thought econ was to supposed to automatically change the fan speed but without the aircon on? If so what is the difference between just econ displayed and econ and auto displayed together?
When you unlock a Pheaton on a hot day the blowers reverse and draw all the hot air out of the system so you get cold air much quicker. It's alright for some...
Yes but the revs actually rise on the 2.0TAUTO maintains the temperature and the blower speed will drop once the temp's reached. ECON switches off the air con compressor which reduces the load on the engine hence the improved economy. (but the lowest air temp you'll get is what's outside the car... no chilled air) Compressors are nearly all variable displacement now and the load is negligible unless serious cooling is required. Gone are the days when you could hear the relay click and the revs drop when the A/C button was pressed:
You know more than me Dave!!! need to try that with the holding of the button....cheers....Makes sense to me...
But then i only just realised that holding down the next track button on the steering wheel moves you to the next folder of MP3's....
CV7 has it right...
Blank = manual fan control, a/c will come on as required but fan speed will not alter. Enable this mode by setting the fan speed manually from the "Auto" setting (without "Econ" displayed)
Econ + Auto = no a/c, fan speed is controlled automatically
Econ = no a/c, fan is in manual mode
Auto = as per CV7's post
The system also cycles the a/c compressor at a low (~10%) output to prevent problems with the seals, etc. i.e. you don't have to switch it on for half an hour every fortnight like you used to with older a/c systems.
You mean you didnt get the James Bond style ejector seat option?
