Most remaps will give you better MPG as the remap increases torque which means less fuel to give same performance hence more fuel for better performance, all you have to do is stay off the pedal...

I think seatmann's tuner does fuel economy specific remaps and a tuner in Ballymena did them at one stage but my experience with the Ballymena tuner was not exactly wonderful and I would not be back to him.

You're not happy with 48mpg!!?

Is this a running cost issue? If so maybe consider a gas conversion to save some pennies?

If they are then they will be doing no more than tickover revs to achieve a figure like that I would think.

60mpg is a hell of a lot so I'm not sure how accurate those figures would be.

i kinda specialise in tuning pd150 and can get these to get anywhere between 50-68mpg.

I like to test with £10 and £20 worth of fuel on my own pd150,

last £20 of fuel test I carried out which included too and from work and out n about normally - I got 190 miles with my latest development tune works out to be 58~ mpg over the £20 of diesel at £1.34 a litre

This is whilst being remapped for smoke free power, Egr deleted and decated.

Believe it or not I was getting 66mpg over 24miles before the decat was fitted when driving sensible, still have the picture to proof it.
