who did you eventually settle with, did you go with celtic tuning?

Wow its been ages since i started this thread.....I eventually went with P-torque mate, Drove from london to wolverhampton to see how the car behaves there and after the map on the way back.

I had problems after the map, the ignition coil went on the 3rd piston (common) nothing to do with the map. But i was lucky it went before i left, otherwise id be screwed on the way back.

Anyways after a purchasing a new coil, i was on my way, and it was so much fun. I was pinned back to my seat through the gears, you can tell when the
K04 has kicked in, it lets me know big time.

I was going up the speedometer very quickly. The map makes the car very lively through the begining of the gears, then it progress's evenly till the red line.

Its a different beast and even when i get in it today, it puts a smile on my face.

I would recomend P-Torque to anyone looking for a decent remap. I can't comment on celtic tuning etc. Prices are cheap but I didn't want to risk it.

I was looking on a FMIC with turbo back and a stage 2 remap from p-torque. But the bills and mortgage is keeping me tied up.

But hopefully will get it rolling road too. if its got anything near 260-265bhp then il be a happy chappy.

Nice one, I am going with them too, due to book it in a couple of days. £275 all inclusive to seat forum members. my LCR has just recently covered 24k miles.

How did you know the ignition coil went, what were the tell tale signs. I have just had a N75 boost control valve fitted, its improved performance alot. The N75 is also a common problem on theses cars.

How long did P-Torque spend on your car, was it all over in 2 hours. did they do a rolling road test, I note they have this big fan they put in front of the car, whats that in aid of.
Ha sthe remap made fuelling increase, are you now getting less mpg or the same. :D

lol, P-Torque spend between 1-3 hours doing the map depending on vagcom checks and time.

No Rolling Road check is extra but Remap + RR = £315

The 'big fan' is to aid cooling and get as much cold air into the breathing system as possible to get optimum performance

I cannot comment on MPG.......yet lol.....apparently it does increase tho by 1-3 MPG (driving style dependent)

Hope this helps

Thank you, much appreciated reply. P-Torque here I come !

Well everything started of fine. Pulled out of the garage and drove down to the end of the road, as soon as i wanted to boot it, it was miss firing like mad. Warning light went on and had that destinctive eggy smell from when the unburnt feul gathers in the CAT. Tried to put my foot down again and it hesitates like mad, like somethings pulling me back.

Its wasn't clear the coil went at 1st, but as soon as the VAG com was connected, it read problem with piston 3, misfiring.

As i said its not un common on these cars, best thing would be to replace them for performance coil packs.

Audi TT's and S3's have same problems. Although many many people never come across it.

I have never come across problems with the car mechanicaly from the remap, covered 6k miles and still as potent as the day its had the map loaded. I will warn you though, the torque steer is incredible, just be carefull in wet weathers untill you get use to driving it. had a scare once, trying to show off :p

Go for it mate, Have fun.

N75 boost valve? Did you change the standard F for a J?

Rolling road fan.........When your car moves and accelerates as normal, you have ram air coming into the engine for induction and cooling. On a rolling road, the car is strapped down and stationary and will obviously not have this ram air. Bye bye engine quickly springs to mind;)

As to coilpack question, you'll know;) Engine light flashes on/off, car judders, all loss of acceleration, and the engine sounds like a bag of spanners. Hook up a fault code reader or vagcom and it will tell you cylinder misfire 1 for example. This then alerts you into checking coilpack on top of cylinder 1. (No such thing as piston misfire as chappy says above, nothing to do with piston)

Audi TT/S3/LCR all share same engine so common throughout the range as well as the 180bhp units also. Cost about £30 to replace and standard coilpacks are sufficient :)

Enjoy the remap:)

nice one, some useful info, I just changed N75 came up on Vag Com as a fault, not upgraded to J, i think the remap will take care of the boost, probably far better than the J could do, so kept it factory standard, very easy to fit, three pipes, thats all.
Yes, I am looking forward to this remap, don't really know what to expect, I only hope its money well spent.

Is it advisable to have the Powerflex Front engine dog bone mount fitted. Would P-Torque fit it do you reckon, and what would be benefits ? :help:

Interesting thread this, just thought I should add my experiences!

After spending an absolute age hesitating, I re-mapped my LCR 225 early this year. But it was definitely the right decision.

I decided to use Jabba mainly because they are near to where I work and rarely get a bad review. They did a custom re-map and also fitted a new dump valve and induction kit - so saved me time and getting my hands dirty.

The car immediately sounded more throaty as I drove it off, and I noticed there was almost no turbo lag in evidence. The acceleration was much smoother in any gear when compared to standard. As the revs get above 3.5k then the turbo really kicks in and it pins me into my seat like never before.

I assume my tyres are going to get very bald very quickly from now on. Other than that I can think of no negative consequences. My fuel consumption overall is ~ the same as before. On very long journeys it is actually better.

No reliabilty problems yet, and I would recommend Jabba to anybody.

They will even optimise the engine for 99 ron. (The stuff I think only Tesco sell?) Apparently according to their technician, if you only ever run on 99 ron (luckily that day it was full up with the stuff) they have a special 'trick' they've developed to get a little more torque out of the engine.
I've no idea what this is as they wouldn't go into details, they just asked if I wanted it doing or not!

When I have the funds I plan to go back to Jabba for the fitting of a new exhaust and cat back/sport cat. They reckon I can then have the new configuration (re) re-mapped for a cut price as I am a previous customer.[B)]
