Hi all just bought my tdi cupra on friday and was just wondering about the egr valve if i delete mine on a 04 pd160 bpx i thinkwill the eml come on? Thanks

Yes unfortunately it will.

It needs mapping out which is quite simple with the right kit!

Ok no probs. Will the eml light effect the performance if i did delete it and eventuallt got it mapped out and is there any little diy upgrades i can do i.e drill air box also have i read rihht that if i replace the back box witn a straight pipe i will see gains in performance and noise. Cherrs

No, the EML will not affect the overall running of the engine however, the EGR delete will improve low end responsiveness a bit and it will keep your inlet manifold clean

The standard airbox is good for over 220bhp so don't need to mess with it unless you want to 'smooth' it out however, no gains are proved.

Also a Turbo back exhaust will look and sound better but people claim the standard is good for over 200bhp but a mufflerectomy increases bhp so work that out

Mufflerectomy = Removal of the standard rear silencer and replaced with a straight pipe.

Really noob question .... Sorry but I'm learning. Does my 1.4 petrol have a egr valve or us it just diesels ?

How can you learn if you don't ask

The 1.4 has an EGR valve however, removing it is a lot harder and complicated than the diesels.

Ok thanks, I was looking at it being my prob for engine management light on? Guess if I clean it then that rules it out aswell as I'm having terrible probs at the mo with the eml on 5 times already.

If I block off the pipe an leave the valve inplace is that ok todo? And how do I keep this shut off valve and were is it??

If you have VCDS you can turn the EGR rate down to slow the intake clogging. This is really useful if you run stock and want to minimise the problems
