some may say lala land....
Hello,
Since i removed and cleaned the EGR as was clogged to death, (another thread), I keep getting the below appearing when eml comes on:
19586 - EGR System Regulation Range Exceeded
P3130 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

now a quick look on google (other search engines do exist (http://briskoda.net/maintenance-performance/allard-egr-blanking-kit/92186/)) it seems to be normal after it has been removed, but it hasn't been removed, except for a clean, so would have thought all would be good now back in?
or am i missing something?

also, http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/189547111, Pic1
shows my idle actual & specified MAF readings to be very high indeed. IS this good, bad, indifferent?

thoughts please.

I have these fault codes mate but my vac line to the egr is currently clamped shut. My guess would be that during cleaning you have done something that now prevents the egr from opening.

The extra air flow through your MAF at idle would be compensating for the lack of exhaust gas input through your egr which would make sense if the egr is shut and not working.

If anyone has a different take on this please correct me, i,ve been going through it on a different thread for another smokey problem.

cheers BenQ,
which bit do you think its stuck shut?
only cleaned, removed the asv plate as was not attached to arm, attached.
plugged in tubes to where they were.

how do i check if it is broken / shut?

No experience of taking the egr apart (yet!) sorry. Perhaps you can manually move the plunger up and down to see if its free / stuck with whatever you used to clean it?
Have you checked for vac leaks? Maybe the vac line didnt go back on securely / the right way round (if that matters?)

cheer beno, (got name right his time).
will look at piping tomorrow, daylight thing, and make sure all on.

Not sure which plunger you mean? the one on the side moves freely and normally has the asv plate attached, but no more, so can't see that and yep more going through would mean more eml i guess as not as restricted in flow as it were

Im not sure the lack of the ASV would give you the fault codes, Its my understanding that this is just a shut down safety feature and dousn't play a part in restricting air flow during driving. The EML is more related to the EGR operation and not to do with air flow through it.

By plunger i meant the part that is actuated by the top vac line into the flying saucer. The part that when actuated releases exhaust gas into the mix from the pipe that goes up into the EGR's underside from the exhaust mani, (where folk put a blanking plate).

I reckon either this part isn't moving properly or the vac supply that moves it is suspect,

Had a nosey through your other thread, think im just repeating what others have suggested. Hope you sort it.

Hi Oldman

As I mentioned in the other thread, it all points to your EGR no longer operating. This would cause an increase in airflow past the MAF at idle, which I think in turn is what causes the error.

Either the vac supply is suspect, or the EGR assembly is jammed so it can't open, or the diaphragm that operates the plunger is no longer airtight so the vacuum just leaks past.

thanks guys.
i know Muddy but as that was kinda exercise done, i thought with the error best to start another thread.

the eml comes on at least every other day, no real pattern to it either
will check pipes plugged on tight tomorrow & yep Gavin i noticed it was impossible to move when out & will look at getting full vag-com myself as becoming more useful overtime with random bits

appreciate help guys with this.

all tubes on nice and tight and not able to feel any tears or anythin gin it
90k service sat so will ask if can remove using vag-com or something whilst there.

not affecting anything, just a tad annoying now
