hi everyone

recently i bought an egt sensor (autometer) and i wanted to know where do i

install it in the manifold

in my country nobudy know where to drill the sensor

can u help me

afaik most operate piggy back on the original lambda sensor on the down pipe, ie a separate probe is not required. The measuring circuitry uses the voltage from your original sensor.

In DP where O2 sensor is, it likely too far away to read a meaningful temp.. (too far=too cold)

Purists will say pre-turbine which is the manifold itself, I chose to fit mine directly on the DP outlet from the turbine.. I feared for thermocouple failure passing debris thru my turbine, so mounted post turbine.

A typical road car turbine will extract about 100degC from the exhaust gas at full load conditions, so install it post turbine in the downpipe about 50mm downstream of the turbine exit.

I would suggest you map the fuelling and ignition to the following limits depending on how brave you are feeling (trade off between maximum power and durability)

road use (safe) max post turbine: 750 to 800 degC
aggressive road, max post turbine: 800 to 875 degC
full race, max post turbine: 875 to 925 degC!

(all temps are steady state temps at peak power, i.e. pick a hot day, select 2nd or 4rd gear, take the revs to peak power speed at full throttle and hold the car on the brakes to keep the engine speed constant (unless you have a fly-by-wire car, which prevents you doing this, so you will just have to do some WOT runs in a high gear, say 4th or 5th to the rev limiter)
