Electrical gremlins?

I've had a few little electrical/electronic things happen recently.
The infotainment occasionally won't turn on, just a blank screen, then it will randomly comes on a few minutes into the drive.

I've also noticed that a couple of OBD mods are tempremental, needle sweep on start up works most of the time, but again occasionally not.
And I also have the dials illuminated all the time, but sometimes they're not on and oddly they seem to dim now and then and then be full brightness.

I hope it's not an ECU issue, any advice?

The screen my wife's Leon would not come sometimes. It was replaced under warranty.

The dials dim because there is a light sensor that alters their brightness in response the light level outside. Pointless but that's what it does.

OBD mods are just that, modifications. You can't expect them to as reliable as factory software.

That's interesting, I've never noticed the dials dim in the year I've had the car and all the intermittent stuff has only started recently, I'll have to keep an eye on the dials with different light levels and see what's happening

Easy check with the screen is the cables, ensure they are secured. If they are secure then it'll either be a dying screen or the graphics card might be on the way out.

With the needle sweep, they don't do it every time, such as with repeated ignition cycles, so that is pretty normal.

As mentioned, the dial illumination varies with the daylight levels.

I can't believe I've haven't noticed the dials dimming since I got the car last June!
But it makes sense, I'll check it's dimming when it's supposed to just in case the light sensor is playing up

If remember correctly the sensor for the dial dimming is in the instrument cluster somewhere.

It's definitely in there, I put my hand over the rpm dial and it dimmed, I can't believe I've never noticed it happen before 😅
