Electrical problem

Hi Guys
I have a very strange electrical problem with my car the fog light on the dash board is very dimly light when the ignition is on. But when you try to turn the fog light on the front wipers come on the rear wiper does not work at all and also when I open the boot there is a very strange buzzing noise coming from the dash board. I was wondering if it could be a relay that had gone but there is nothing in the manual that tells you what relay does what. Has anyone had the problem or could anyone give me some help with this its really bugging me.

Ive had exactly the same problem. Disconnecting the rear wiper (via the connector behind the boot panel) solved the problem of the buzzing and the fog light. However, this isnt of course a long term solution! Im reasonably convinced it's a relay problem as well, (or so Im told by the experts) but I also have the same problem.....which relay!! I have searched and cant find any information out there on relays or any wiring diagrams. The lack of a Haynes Manual is a real problem!

If anyone knows how to solve this or which relay does what then please let on. This is really bugging me too! If you find anything out please let me know....I'll do the same

It’s the number 19 relay that is making the buzzing noise when the boot is open. I am also having the same problem trying to find what relay does what it’s not in the manual. Where would you buy replacement a relay is that a dealer only thing?

I am fairly sure it is not a problem with the relay now I think it is a dodgy earth in the boot area somewhere has anyone had any problems with earths in the boot? Any help or advice would be much appreciated

The relay is a dealer thing according to the bloke at Halfords but there's probably other sources out there.
What's drawn you to the earthing conclusion over the relay? (Im very ignorant with car electrics)

Some other suggestions Ive had;
- bad earth on the interior light (i think I ruled this out)
- connector needs replacing (this is the connector on the left side of the boot if you're looking at the back of the car, under the panel of course)

I changed the connector to no avail.

Problem solved sprayed some contact cleaner on the inline fog light connectors and it fixed the problem.

Which is the inline foglight connector? ie where's it located?

I will try and take a picture tonight mate to show you. If you earth the wiper motor and the problem stops you know the problem is in the boot somewhere.

Great suggestion. Ive earthed the rear wiper and everything works fine! Problem completely solved.
