Yes any of us with the electronic parking brake have both these features, it would be safe to say they normally come hand in hand.
Agree, in the SEAT world.

But I've had a couple of Audi's, and they were separate, ie. I had a couple of cars with an electronic handbrake, but no autohold (or hill hold assist as they called it).

.
Agreed. A friend has a Audi A4 Avant (about 2010 model?) that has a EHB but no HillHold or Autohold.
Hill Hold is different to Autohold, as it only holds the brakes on for 2-3 seconds to give time to pull away on a slope. Autohold will hold for as long as the car is stationary and the ignition is on (and the driver's door closed) - automatically changes over to the EHB when ignition off or driver's door opened.

First experience of the Auto system was when out on a test drive from the dealers. Came to a stop at lights, took foot of brake pedal and brakes stay on, great! However as I was quite a way back in the queue and lights seemed to be on red for ages I slipped the (DSG) into neutral....suddenly brakes release and we're rolling back, wtf! Fortunately only rolled a little way before jumping on the pedal again but could have been embarrassing! This seemed a little dangerous to me and also had a bit of trouble with brake coming on whilst trying to manouver in reverse so now it's off, I think for good!

I see what your saying but the car needs to release all brakes when you place it into neutral for a variety of reasons. You should have engaged the EHB.

Or leave DSG in Drive. The DSG actually opens the clutch if car is stationary in D. No need to move selector to N. Although I am talking about a 2018 Seat not an Audi.

I must to press the clutch to propel the vehicle.
If I do not press the clutch the vehicle will not move
I have a manual box
And the vehicle in neutral mode.

With the seat system you have two parts to the Ebraking braking system,
1, the Hillhold
2, the Parking brake

When the hill hold cuts in by pressing the foot brake (usually) a green lights come on
and this puts pressure in the hydrolic system, and holds the car either facing up or down,
and only releses when you start to move(ie using the clutch or the gas pedal)
with the Parking brake, that only comes on if you pull the switch up(or when you stop the
engine)
But this where all the confusion comes in, when you start the engine the Handbrake will
be on, so just select either 1st or drive and set off and the handbrake wiil come off
on its all by its self, but you have got to remember as soon as there is a slight movement
the car will move, so don't release the clutch untill you are ready to moove off, and
of course its even easer in a auto

Since the Leon Mk3 facelift (and perhapseven before) it's NOT Hillhold but it's Autohold. Holds brakes on if car is stationary even if the car is on the level. This can be seen by the green brake icon in the instrument cluster.

thank for all but the problem is not in the hold brake.
the problem is in the hand brake.
if i want to start engine i need to press on the clech and later i Leaving the clach and the hand brake is shut down and my car is droping.
the gear box in "neutral"
The problem happens sometimes not all the time.
i dont know why.
The computer does not remember to stay on.

Was all new to me at the time having not driven an auto nor a car with any sort of EHB or autohold. Now I mostly leave autohold on. Hve to say tho I find all these systems a little unrefined. Quick pull away when autohold is on almost always results in quite a jerk and can make a quick puall away slow if the overly eager auto(engine) stop has cut in and autohold definitely off when manoeuvering in a tight space.

I have previously made a post on this thread earlier, again this has happened a few times recently. I use the auto-hold function which I am a big fan of. My problem is when I start the car in neutral and tap the accelerator my brake disengages and my car rolls forward. This caused over £300 of damage last time. It's a thing I've always done after starting a car, I just give the accelerator a small tap ( never above 1500 rpm). My car sits on a very slight downward gradient on my drive, could this be the cause ??

Don't tap the accelerator, as that is what releases the brake

if not the engine is not work.
please help me i d'ont know what to do?
and in the garage d'ont know what to do.
the seat garage.
thank you!

To me this does not sound like it is working as intended, I'd never expect the handbrake to "go off" without the car being in gear (manual) and the clutch pedal being lifted back up, if the car is in neutral (manual) then I'd always expect the handbrake to stay on and any failure situation/mode to be "fail safe". I don't have a DSG car, but I'd hope that it was always left in park prior to switching the engine off and started in park and only able to be started in park when stationary.

You are correct that a car with DSG must be in Park (or in some circumstances, Neutral) before it can be started. Foot must be on brake to enable selector to be moved from Park.

I did not say anything about the clutch, yes you have to push it in to start, but Don't touch the accelerator ! onces it has started
press the clutch again and select gear and as you let the clutch out apply a small amount of gas

i push only the cluch and start the engine.
