The Altea has been coming up with this now for two weeks, I got it hooked up to a blue box by a specialist and it was cleared but I noted an fault code 19559 - motor for intake manifold flap(V157): Malfunction, does anyone know what it means, and is it going to be expensive to fix. The main dealers computer is on the blink and it with SEAT so he cant tell me what it is wrong, another dealer is trying to charge me 90 quid to hook up a computer to the comm port.

Hi mate.

Just to let you know, we have changed a few of these intake manifold positioning flaps on Audi 2.0 TDI engines. It is a common fault on these vehicles that Audi knows about. I would be pretty sure that the same components are used on the Seat Altea Pd140 engine aswell.

The motor flap gets sticky and either makes the supply fuse pop, or the motor does not make it to the demanded position and this upsets the control loop.

However, without seeing your car in person it could be something else im just letting you know what we have seen.

Kind Regards

Keith

Exactly the same happened to my car and I had a new egr valve fitted under warrenty. As said this is a common problem with the 2.0TDI engine and is getting even more common now that these engines are now a few years old. I would still ask your dealer to see if SEAT will do it under warrenty with it now being such a common fault.
