Currently my battery is covered by a felt-type material, and inlet manifold is uncovered. This is how Leon Cupras came stock. Do I need plastic covers for each of these? They are available. Or are they fine as is?

Not the same engine, but same battery

For all standard cars, you tend to see engine covers more on diesels than petrol. They are there to help the diesel engine warm up quicker. If you can find a cheap aftermarket one, I'd get one just to keep the engine top area cleaner.

It’s about £70 for the inlet manifold cover, and £12 for the battery cover. Manifold cover isn’t cheap.

I don’t need a battery cover in my VW (2020 Polo GTI+); the battery lives in the spare wheel well in the boot, so the spare wheel is my battery cover! ?.
