Engine Choice

What would you guys prefer over these engine's, plus any pros/cons on modifying too.

PD160 or 20vt (180)

In the middle of a dilemma at the mo and can't choose between them

economy is important to me so I'd always go diesel, maybe when I'm richer I can afford 20mpg lol

have you driven both?

This debate has come up many, many times before.... it comes down to: economy, running costs, driving style/preferences etc. etc. etc. I assume you are thinking Cupra?

Would you be looking to boost performance with a remap and other mods?

as people say - are you nuts about fuel etc and how many mpg ? if you are buy the deisel one......they are just as fun and can put many other hot hatches to shame....

if not and you enjoy reving a car and not as fussed on fuel then buy the petrol.....but make the right decision YOURSELF because if not you will never be happy ! As it's your money your spending

20VT every day. Diesels are far too agricultural for me to live with, and I don't do enough miles for it to make it worth my while living with them. As far as MPG goes,I've currently got a Focus TDCI hire car at work, it's really not much cheaper on fuel for my mileage than my stage 2 FR is if driven sensibly. The FR sounds and handles the part (no heavy diesel lump), and goes like stink. Only killer is the roadtax I(band J or K IIRC).

Well at the moment im averaging about 44mpg over a tank of diesel. This has got me thinking that compared to a 20vt there cant be too much difference over a tank if driven steadily.

Ive never drove a 20vt only my mapped pd130.

I just fancy something quicker now that insurance is becoming cheaper for me (350Z @ £1100 fc! etc)

Tuning wise probably just a remap because i dont see point in making something faster when you could of just got something faster in the first place. Altho whiteline will be added!
