Hello all, first off I’m a new member and fairly new to the wonderful world of seat!

I haven’t had my Cupra for too long and at first it was genuinely phenomenal. Issues started a few days ago engine management light came on so I plugged it in and generated the code P0171.

The next day the engine was hunting terribly dropping as low as 400rpm and on one occasion it stalled at a set of lights. It still has the standard air box and intake so I replaced the filter and maf sensor but after that it’s still bad. It starts ok although it rattles like mad. It idles around 750 but as soon as you tap the throttle and go to about 2000 rpm it stutters drops to 400 and bounces between 400-1000rmp.

I’m a bit gutted cause I don’t want to get rid of the car! Can anybody please help me and tell me what’s going on?

Cheers

I maybe very new to the plugging in and debugging codes etc but on my OBDeleven app I can do live graphs with sensor readings like engine load and maf readings would this be worth seeing in case you see a theme running?

Cheers

Thanks mate but I’ve finally diagnosed the issue it was the breather hose on the inlet manifold! Could have been a lot worse I suppose!
Thanks for the reply

Great stuff!

Doesn't matter how you get there as long as it's fixed.

Enjoy!

Thank you. Haven’t had the cupra for long but I absolutely love it!
Can you recommend and must do mods?
Thanks

I assume you have a MK2 Cupra as you didn't mention the MK3 280,290 or 300 models.

The mods can be as cheap or expensive as you wish, the lower end would be changing the interior lights to LED's (£30) and it goes up with getting an official Armrest installed (£140) then a Stage 1 ECU map (£300-£500), air intake (£300 for the Revo one), then there would be lowering springs, wheels lol the list is endless! (not sure on the exact prices).

I find the best way to find stuff is to look through the Readers rides at the same model and then you know it's tried and tested.
