I own a late 2003 PD150 Leon with 162 000 km on the clock at the moment.
I bought it early March of this year with 152 000 km on the clock.
The car has since done 10000 km (about 6250 miles) since I drive it.
I have also been told by the dealer that the oil has been changed prior to purchase of the vehicle, but it wasn't a VAG dealer, just some ordinary Joe who sells imports from Italy (I'm in Croatia, btw)
In the first 2-3 months of ownership I used to regularly check the oil level and it always turned up at the 'MAX' end of the dipstick. After that I have left it for a couple of months as it was normal every time I checked the oil level.
This morning I checked, after at least 2 months of not checking, and saw it was half way between 'MIN' and 'MAX' levels on the dipstick.
I realize that the oil level may have only changed in 0.3-0.5 liters, but I'm just curious if that's normal for a PD engine.
Now, I do give it a good go fairly often (2-3 times a week) so that might be the cause of oil consumption, but I never tend to go past 3500 rpm, which isn't a proper thrashing but is more lively than your average cruise.
Also, on cold starts, blue smoke tends to go out of the exhaust, stops after a minute or two.
And finally, I have researched PD engine oil and Castrol Edge 5w40 and Quantum LongLife III 5W-30 seem to come up fairly often.
