Engine Remap

Hi everyone,

I am considering having my engine in my Leon FR 170 TDi remapped.

Aparently, I can get 50bhp extra, and a hell of alot more torque, along with improved MPG...

So I have a few questions that I hope someone can answer...

1. Is it worth doing?
2. Does it void your warenty (as the company who would do it, say it wouldn't).
3. Am I being cond? Is this actually possible? more power, and more efficiant seems too good!

I think the answer would be
1; Yes
2: Yes
3: Yes / Yes

50bhp is just not possible on the factory set up, your more likely to get around 200bhp & about 300lb torque.

3. More economy if you don't redline it everywhere.

The guy said that the remap is untraceable so warenty isnt affected, (which I know sounds pretty dodgey anyway). Want the extra power, but not a voided warenty on a new car.

Seems like a respectable enough company though.

He did say, better economy, depending on how often you redline it.

If they look hard enough it's traceable.

Most diagnostic checks won't pick it up though.

You should go with P-Torque in my opinion, Will is a top guy and the map really smooths out the power delivery!!

some companies hide the coding so it cant be found but if they do look hard it can be found.

You wont get a 50bhp increase from this engine. 25 - 30bhp is normal with strong torque.

40bhp+ would be possible, but the DPF will not allow this as the injection has to be limited to ensure no clogging of the filter

Still very good increases in performance to be had though

Im just worried about warenty, and insurance etc. lots of mixed views out there.

What people look hard enough? Do you think the Dealer will when its taken in for a service etc.?

not sure as they will on do 100% check if there is a problem with the ECU but i checked this out and he siad if they test it will come up as normal.

i cant say for sure as im just going off what ive been told.

mines been in for a service and that noise it was making like a few others were and they still never noticed it was mapped !

it will make you think that is how the car should have come (powerwise) when you bought it
