The other day when i started my car the engine warning light came on, so took it to seat and they said was a temp sensor fault, so they cleaned it up and said it should be fine but if it does come on again i've to take it back and they'll replace it, is this a common fault?

Also when i start my engine now it seems bit reluctant to start, it starts 1st time but it cranks a wee bit longer than usual, and seems to growl when its started, seems ok once it running though apart from a ticking noise which im not sure if that supposed to be there or not,

took a recording of the engine starting

does this sound normal, sounds a wee bit like my old golf tdi:( or am i just being paranoid about it?

Did they CHANGE the coolant temperature sensor, or just CLEAN the sensor in the header tank?

The coolant temp sensor will give rich running and light up the engine light, the sensor in the header tank will give threebeeps and a flashing light on the coolant temperature gauge.

AFAIK you can't clean the coolant temp sensor - it really needs to be replaced for the green top one.

not sure but they said they cleaned it, but its just the engine warning light, not coolant temp gauge. So i presume it has to be the collant temp sensor, where abouts is it located so i can check if they have replaced it with a green one?

If you do a search there's been a few pictures posted, if that does turn anything up, try googling "green top coolant" or something.

I occassionally have a similar issue.. drive it for a couple of minutes that stop the engine start it again and everythings fine.
