Also... I’ve just found a split hose. Comes off the top of the inlet mani and disappears.... what is it

It’s the large long thin one on top. Was split and flapping about by a small black valve under the tip

Looks like the vac hose to the brake servo.

Need to fix that sharpish!

Would that be the complete shaft including joints etc both end?

Yeh, complete shaft.
Knocking is usually the outer joint but in your cars case, it could be either (or both).

Hmm. I wish I knew why the price was so different through euro!!! Always worth a shop around. Is it a simple job?

Only just seen this. Make sure you check the driveshaft is correct before fitting.
I bought 2 driveshafts from j and r for my cupra r mk1. They were the wrong length (1 longer, 1 shorter!). I found out later when it left me stranded outside the local shops!
Lots of back and forth between me and them, PayPal eventually refunded me and they said they didn't have an alternative despite still advertising them for my car.
I used them for parts to repair my original shafts.
Wish I'd checked google reviews before buying! Good luck

I’ve matched the part to model and engine code so here’s hoping. Plus I had manic fetch me the same link. We shall see did you fit the incorrect sized ones or did they just not fit

I used them.in my saxo race car.. used to run them for 3-4 meetings then bin them . That cheap it's not worth the waiting for them to fail. But that said I done a whole season and testing and stuff on 1 set and they lasted and showed no signs of wear at all

I did check these were correct for my car also beforehand. I fitted the shorter one first, not realising. This decided to fall out after a couple of weeks. Fortunately at low speed so no gearbox casing damage!
The longer one wouldn't actually fit to bolt everything back together.
Just check the lengths side by side when you fit. They seem to be hit and miss.

Will do mate thanks for the heads up!! Luckily I don’t use the car for anything other than my own pleasure. I also had my butyl seal tape delivered for the leaky door, that seems like the most boring job ever haha
