According to VAG-com, my 'lateral acceleration sensor' is bust (sounds a bit Star Trek like to me).

I hope it will be covered under my 4th year extended warranty.

Just in case it isn't, does anybody have any idea where this sensor might be located in the car? I believe it's burried in the dash somewhere but I need to know in case I have to replace the sensor myself.

Cheers,

Mark

I seem to have an additional problem now. The car went to the dealers yesterday to check the fault and they have come up with something different.

Firstly, they ran a diagnostic on the car and as well as the ESP fault, there was also an over-boost fault logged. Seeing as they don't know the car is chipped (they drove it, realised it was bloody quick but didn't put 2 and 2 together) they have put the over-boost fault down to a faulty wastegate on the turbo. This may be the case as they said they couldn't move the wastegate by hand or when pressure was applied to it (I don't know if you should be able to move it by hand?). They have now also put the ESP fault down to too much boost being produced.

They have ordered a turbo which is going to be covered under my fourth year warranty but I don't know what's going to happen once they've fitted the new turbo and realise that the car is still much quicker than it should be, and the ESP fault will still be present.

Anybody give me any suggestions on I should play this one?

Cheers

Ive had the same problem with the acceleration sensors.
Mine is also in the 4th year, however i bought mine as an offical seat approved second hand car from the york dealership, the salesman said it was fully warrentied for an extra year, however when i actully read it it donst cover cars over 50,000 miles mines 64k, the dealership where im having my sensors replaced didnt bat an eyelid though so it looks all looks good.

Im gonna have to have a word with the seat thoguh to see if i can get my door seals fixed as the water ingress is quite bad atm, the dealer said they wouldnt do it due to it being in the 4th year.

One thing that really annoyed me though, when i bought the car the dealer said it was fully seviced by their own mechanics, however when i ran VAG-com on it i foud that they havent evan touched it as it still had fault codes!

My 4th year extended definitely seems to worth it. The dealer is replacing the turbo (whether it's broken or not!) and reading through the booklet, most things are covered. It includes Seat Assist for the additional year, doesn't have any mileage limitations and the only things that don't seem to be covered are general wear and tear items and interior trim.

If you read it again their is a mileage limitation for 50k carnt remember exactly which scetion it is in though.

I can assure you that my 4th year is mileage limitation free.

This is a proper Seat UK extended warranty, not a dealer warranty offered on a used car. My car was already over 50K when I took the warranty out with Seat last year.

I SEARCHED BUT COULD NOT FIND... does anyone know where the lateral acceleration sensor is on a mk1 leon cupra? This thread started out on the subject and went all tangential. my code reader says mine has an intermittant fault .... the Tc or is it ESP light comes on every other trip to work.

I think it's on the floor of the driver's footwell next to the steering column, in a unit with the steering angle sensor (the one that tells the ESP how far round you've yanked the steering while shouting "straighten up you ******* . . .) :)

lateral acceleration sensor location.

its located on the steering column, left hand side bout half way down.
that 1 and th steering angle sensor are bolted 2getha and then 2 the column.
u cant miss it, its in a brass coloured housing.
gota take both off 2 change it.
£120 from dealer.
im afta a secondhand 1 if any 1 knows of 1.:help:

If this is the case, shouldn't many more experience this ESP fault / faulty wastegate thing? I don't know, but this is the first time I've read about it.

The guys on here with approx 300 horses (with other turbos of course), how's their ESPs?
