MY 2003 LEON CUPRA ESP LIGHTS CAME ON AND CAR STOPED WEN STARTED AGAIN NO REVS ABOVE TICK OVER AND VERY ROPPY ???????????????
ANY CLUES PLEASE :wtf::help::cry:

you're gonna call me mad but...

check the MAF & associated plugs!!

i have had the light come on permanently a couple of times.. once after i fitted a new air filter and put the MAF assembly back on in reverse... and again when i changed my TIP and didn't push the MAF connector all the way home.

Faulty maf is the most common issue to light up the ESP/traction control light.
this may explain lumpy running, but it doesnt really explain why it does not rev more than tick over.
If the esp light is on due to a maf issue this would indicate it has failed rather than 'playing up' and therfore the ecu would use safer default settings and would allow you to drive the car ok. (but most likely a bit rich).

However you could try unplugging it to see if this helps or changes anything. If the car then runs ok you can say with some certainty maf related.

Ps maf is the air flow sensor on the nilet pipe immediately after the air filter. The plug/wire should be located on the top/rear of this pipe. To unplug it pull off the plug. (try not to break it). You can run car with it unplugged with no issue. But not for a long period.

Alternative common reason for engine running issues would be coil pack, however this would not light the esp light but the engine light instead and you can normally run the engine but with a missfire.
