Has anyone polished up the tail pies on an FR. If so what did you use. Will micro mesh then a polish and wheel sealant be ok?

Chemical fallout remove such as Sonax or a non-acidic wheel cleaner. Leave to dwell for 5-15 mins then rinse off. I do this while I'm cleaning the alloys.

I then used Autosol to polish up the pipes and finally sealed with Chemical Guys wheel guard (2 layers, 30 mins apart).

Beautiful result! I was wondering why my tailpipes look crap. I'll be getting a bit of Autosol on the job this weekend :)

I've just had a 1000 mile round trip to the Highlands. Mainly wet (& snowy!) conditions. My pipes were covered with lumps of tar (as were the insides of the wheels & loads of spots on the bodywork). Brake & Clutch cleaner removed all from the exhaust & a light Solvol Autosol brought them up like new. They get all the crap thrown up from the rear wheel.

It looks almost like that in-between washes and exactly like that after every wash. I also spray Amorall Shield for Wheels on the tips which I think is working really well.

There's a guy in here who did a wonderfully shiny job with oven cleaner (Yikes!).

To be fair and give him credit, the result was good!

Hmmm, likely to be caustic acid based. I'm out!

I tried megs metal polish on mine, it's not very abrasive like autosol is, i.e. u can still see the form marks. Then waxed with normal dodo juice to protect. See what happens.

I gather the twin pipe end is stainless steel. Following it back it's all formed, the first join is into the rear box. How much is stainless then on?
