i have a 110 tdi leon

is it worth wrapping the exhaust ? im thinking about it because it will let exaust gasses escape quicker as they are hotter so therefore spooling the turbo up quicker. makeing the care more efficient/more bhp once it has warmed up ?

anyone done it on a tdi or know anyone who has any gains in power or efficiantcy ??

If it was that efficient and worthwhile then the car would have been built with it. In short it probabaly wont make much if any difference at all.

It might make a difference by lowering the internal engine temperature, and therefore the air feed might be cooler. But you'd get a better effect with a cool air feed from the front bumper.

I have seen people talk about exhaust wrapping being a bad thing, the heat has to go somewhere and you may be focussing it on parts that aren't as heat proof. If I remember correctly, when I bought a new manifold for my bike, the warranty specifically excluded failure after wrapping. OK, it's not quite the same situation, but there must be a reason for it.

its more of a petrol application where the exhaust can get so hot it glows, you'll rarely see them getting this hot on a diesel.
