Expected Delivery?

Forgive me for the possibly dumb question but what's the average speed for a cargo ship? I am not asking in knots or any other precise measure, rather in broad terms such as "2 days from Spain to UK" In my case it would be Spain to Greece but I doubt you would know that so I will estimate it roughly based on the UK timing

I was told that the ship takes 8 days from Spain to the UK (specifically Newcastle, which is NE England).

I was also told that there were 3 ships that do the UK trip (obviously the 3 ships would be at different stages of the trip).

My car was built on 12th September and was delivered to the dealer on 25th September - I think I was lucky and caught a ship just as it was leaving

Hey Lawto! Sounds very familiar to what my dealer said. I phoned last Thursday and he said it was in transit from the factory to the port. So I'm guessing it arrived there on Friday and it's very likely that our car's will be on the same ship If you could let me know what your dealer says then that would be great!

Contacted dealer again today and no ship name as yet, told me he thought it would be towards end of week before ship leaves port and to call back then and they should know something.The waiting is worse now that i know it's actually been built, still I know it's going to be worth the wait.

Phoned the dealer to today and they kindly informed me my car is currently aboard the LA SURPRISE and set off from Barcelona yesterday. So I just checked and it's about to pass Gibraltar. Lets hope the Spanish behave themselves and let it through lol

Mm, he didn't physically check about the ship he just said that he thought that it would be at the end of the week. Can't see any reason why it shouldn't be on the same ship as yours if they were made at the same time. I think the journey is about 8 or 9 days.

Just had a look and the ship is destined for Sheerness, not sure where you are located but I am in Stoke so maybe mine will be on a different ship and taken to a Port further further north, not sure how it works

Hi Greg,

Great excitement, it’s just arrived at Port, the transport order to deliver into us is still by the 15th, but it’s getting closer 
As soon as it arrives on site , I will contact you to organise delivery.

This was ordered way back in May but had to tie in with my current company car ending in October so I'm betting thats why it's taken so long.

Well I hope like madduffy's car that mine is on that ship!!! lol!! Built last week so fingers crossed and as I am in London, Sheerness is only in Kent!! So should not take long once it docks!! I will be another on the shipping website tracking the "La Surprise"!! Does Cilla Black jump out if your car when you get it!!
And Maddufy, I think it will sail around Gib and not cross the border back into Spain!! lol!!

My dealer told me they only use two ports - Sheerness and Tyne Dock. For Stoke I wouldn't like to guess which one they use.

Really?? I couldn't find when it arrived anywhere, but if that's the case then.... let's hope that all of our cars are nicely sat together aboard the LA Surprise! And we all get them at the same time

Like Uncle long hair said, the only ports used are Sheerness and Tyne so I'm guessing the "LA Surprise" stops at Sheerness first then carries onto Tyne as the dealer said mines will be dropped off at Tyne! So there is still hope your car is aboard

Didn't realise that, really hope so, could still be on for pick up in 3rd week in October which is better than I originally thought

Are any of you guys worried about a price increase? The new list wef Oct 1st is out see another thread. What happens to punters like us who ordered off the July Price List and are anticipating delivery any day now?
Anyone had a phone call from a dealer or gone to collect and found something nice (the car) and something nasty (the increased bill)?

They can't increase how much you pay between signing the order and delivery, you pay the amount that was agreed during the order. I signed the first finance papers and order forms when I ordered last month so this is what I expect to pay. I doubt the dealer will be paying more to eat into their profits, the higher price will only apply to those who order from now on.

Is that right? how can it go from 8 days which is what I've read to over a month? Is it stopping at every port on the way to pick up more cars, lol.

Does anybody know the names of the other two ships that do the same route? It would be interesting to see where they are in relation to La Surprise. My car is being built this week, it may give some idea when the next ship is leaving.
