Hi

Just bought a Leon Cupra... Well impressed, although I bought it with only 1 key - the 1 you need to put in the door to lock it.

I've been to the key cutter man today as I heard you could stick a copied key into a 3rd party remote. Aparantly not on the 2001 onwards though, SEAT got wise to replacement keys being done on the cheap & included a chip in the fob that generates a new code everytime you use it.

Anyways, the dealer I phoned today reckons £150+ after the cars been booked in/reprogrammed/usual ****... Does this sound right or am I havin my pants pulled down?!

I've read a few posts on here about VAG-COM, which can reprogram keys? Is VAG-COM expensive/worth the hassle?

Thanks a lot

I have read similar threads before so believe unfortunately it could be true, is it the flip key you have? reason I ask is that there have been a few flips keys on ebay and IIRC it costs circa £30 for Seat to reprogram.

haven't some folk had success with this?buy a flip key off "the bay" get it cut and reprograme with VAG COM?

Cheers lads, sounds more positive.
The SEAT dealer quoted me £70+vat for the key itself & said I would pay the same again for the engineers time to reprogram it.
So methinks they're quoting over the odds, I'm gonna round a few more dealers in the wider area 2moro.

that an hour and a halfs labour for something that takes about 10 mins to do. sounds about right for a main dealer.

Not red, no. Its bronze/orange. Gonna stick a pic of it on my profile when i get a chance...

And cheers for the thought Dan, but to do the reprogramme I think I need the VAGcom or whatever it is you plug in to the car to sort out the codes.
I think on older models you can do it manually. Gonna shout a few more dealers today, see if it comes up any cheaper.
