Have now been offered an extended warranty with premium based on miles per year, everything except sat nav or listed components and an excess of £0 £100 or £250. My premium would be £160 for all components, less than 10'000 km and £250 xs on a 1.2 tsi with dsg. Current miles 15,000 after 3 years

What do folks think about the extended warranty itself and my deal?

That's a £250 excess on each claim you make, right? Doesn't sound worth it to me, the only warranty worth having is a £0 excess, even if it bumps the price up.

OK so here are the numbers based as above but varying a/c to xs:

£0 xs £236.78
£100 xs £216
£250 xs £160.30

Where's the sweet spot?

So with 10 days to go to the end of the manufacturers warranty I decide to purchase the extended warranty with £0 xs. Price quoted has jumped for all categories as follows:

£0 xs £357
£100 xs £216
£250 xs £258

That's quite an increase. :cry:

Phoning SEAT insurance (0333 0433783), who handle the warranty, they explained that the system hadn't picked up I was still in warranty. Took details and came back with a quote as original. Phew :funk:

I noticed on the extended warranty website that the policy requires 30 days before it can come into force . I think that's where the problem lay

Moral: If you are going to do this, do it when the email offer is made or be prepared to ring SEAT and ask for mercy

Where'd you see that part? I read all of the small print in the ts and cs and didn't spot that. I also successfully claimed off the warranty policy less than a week after taking it out (and being out of the manufacturers warranty!)
 
When you get a quote on the site it's at the top as a date. You can't go back to anything before 30 days from the date you access the site.
 
Ahh... just checked and noticed that. That's only just been put there recently as I took mine about 2 weeks ago and it was instant cover!
