Factory Sat Nav into LCR 210

Ok

I have a MCR 210 and wanted to find out how difficult it would be to fit the factory Sat Nav system into it.

Now i know that i would have to change the surround, as the sat nav is a lot bigger than the standard radio, but my other questions are..............

Can it be done relatively easily (I.E, is the wiring loom already setup for this?)

Does it require an additional aerial?

Where does the cigarette lighter socket go once the sat nav is installed?

Do i need anything else other than the nav system and surround?

I know it's easier to buy a tomtom, but they can be stolen easily and i'd prefer one that's built in to the car.

I eagerly await your replies and slatings!!

The surround is not cheap from Seat iirc about £200!!! ashtray goes lower!

It's a bit of a job, you'll need to swap out the whole centre console (not just the fascia) New - that's about £250-£300.

If you can find a Toledo V5 from a breakers, that came with sat nav as standard so you can pick up both the sat nav and the console cheaper (that's what I did)

In terms of wiring up - you can use the Seat Triplex GPS unit on the roof - but it's a lot of messing about. I got hold of a garmin gps antenna and up that on the dash. There's also a bit of messing about to do with the GALA input into the unit (it's all to do with dead reckoning if you lose GPS - tunnels etc)

It's that not bad - VWNAVI.COM had lots of helpful stuff when I did mine.

i had to totally re wire mine when it was stolen, wasnt to bad a job, just make sure you get a goo adaptor lead, german e bay is full of this gear, just remeber its the same system that goes in the golf.

Buy an independant TomTom unit?

Not exactly as neat as building a stock one into your current vehicle, but generally more cost-effective and a better device all-round.

The sat nav unit does look well once fitted, if you can get a cheap second hand one with the arial and lead you will have a result!

Doh! I read it now and saw you'd already considered a TomTom.

Nobody leaves them mounted to the dash - they're usually put in the glovebox like most expensive Headunits when you leave the car.

But if you'd prefer the built in, who am I to stop you

you have to change the whole console, and the lowe part, if you want an ashtray & lighter, the cheapest place to buy the stuff new, is in Germany at www.seat-leon.de/shop
