Positive crankcase ventilation!! Search a few things on here not really sure on Eml etc.

I can assure you that the valve we're talking about is the pressure control valve - the main pressure control element within the crankcase breather system, they fail and hey presto - all the issues as described or a split crank breather hose.

Where others rely on the search function I rely on my 10 years as a V.A.G technician.

The term for the system is a crankcase breather system, Positive Crank Ventilation refers to motion in which it removes this pressure, it refers to an action rather than on object.

People often make the mistake of mixing to two up or naming them incorrectly, I know exactly which valve is in question as they are a regular fault, more commonly on the inline 1.8ts in passats and a4s.

Cheers for the replys anyone know the part number and roughly how much they are.

The one way breather valve is less than a tenner. If you google "Audi a4 pressure control valve" it'll come up with several threads, the part number is in most if them.

is this the plastic part in the t-piece just after the crankc breather which then goes to the inlet manifold?

I wouldn't class it as miss informing someone as that is what I was provided with when I asked the question a while back and I had a split lower breather pipe. If it worked for me I am happy to pass it on.
