Does it still sound okay ?

I would think so, with a 3" decat milltek all the way to the tips :D

What on earth could make this chavvy? Nobody from outside can tell its there and nobody from inside can either unless u tell them. It cancels out noise that u don't want in the cabin and enhances what u do, it's not like a speaker that plays a fake engine noise. I don't see this as a negative, and besides, if u open the windows u can hear the "real" noise.

Also benjic2 how did u even find this thing, as I can't seem to find any information on this at all. Also what difference does it make to the sound in the car?

It's well documented on the golf gti forum, it is a very thorough read with about 50 pages. I will try and dig it out for you but it is located just under the scuttle panel on the drivers side ( It will be different on the tfsi ).
You can just unplug it.

Interesting thing is one of the guys looked up the part number and it costs over £200 for a replacement module. I would have rather had this off the list price, than a supid speaker!!!

Pretty sure one of the intake pipes has some kind of sensor in it.
Once I was looking to upgrade my plastic pipe between the intercooler and the throttle body and it's listed with or without sound sensor for interior noise.

There's already a thread on it. Someone manages to find a part number for it and an exploded view of it too.

I'm trying to find it but can't remember what it was titled

on some of the 3.2 audi tt's they have a resonator that goes from the intake upto the bulkhead and when you put your foot down it sounds awesome! much better than a crappy speaker

For the purpose, wasn't the noise pipe on GTIs sufficient?
Why go and put in a stupid fake noise?

And I had no clue SEAT decided to go with it as well. Glad I don't have it.

I work with a guy who's got a CLS55 AMG, he also said that he found out that his merc has a speaker if some sort.

I'm gonna start bringing in small immigrants, hiding them in the dash. Their payment will be making loud DV noises while I drive about. Cheaper than an ITG :funk:
