Hi all

Newbie on here so be gentle with me & my lack of Knowledge!

I have a problem with my AC not blowing out cold.
Full of gas so not that.
Garage seem to think it is one of the twin fans not working (Left hand if your standing in front of car).
Have sourced a second hand one and will buy this and the garage also said i need the fan relay.
Anyone else experienced this problem and what do you think the chances of this being the cure.
Any suggestions/help gratefully accepted.

Any luck on this? My air con still doesn't work, similar issue to you i.e. doesn't blow cold air (can't really feel the air con unit kicking in) and my climate control display flashes when I turn the car on. I've taken it to my local garage to check, but it was a saturday and a last minute fit in so they could only confirm it didn't need re-gassing

Havent sorted it yet but was told that there is no power getting to one of the fans (The one in front of the compressor) and that this could be part of the problem.
Have managed to source one and am awaitng delivery of it.

Will let you know if this cures it (Am a bit doubtful myself!) and if you could let me know if yours gets sorted & what it is.

I'm having trouble with my fans / ac unit also.

Mine's a 56 plate FR with 24k on the clock...

Problem with mine is, the fans don't blow at all. The only time air comes from the fans is when I am driving (just the airflow coming through) which is minimal. The temperature control and direction (Feet, face, windscreen, etc) both work fine, it seems the air conditioning cools the air further also.

I'm guessing there is no power to whatever it is that pushes the air through? Fan? Compressor?

Cheers

My Ibiza FR has an Air-Con problem. The screen flashes on ignition start up. It went for a service and the fault code reader came up with F129, a pressure switch fault. The air con doesn't appear to be very cold either. The fans and blower directors seem to be ok.

Does anyone else have a problem like this? But more importantly anyone know how much it is to be fixed/ is it do-able at home?

I had the fan in front of the compressor go which in turn caused the compressor to seize. I got a new fan (from Murrays Direct) and 2nd hand compressor. When I started to look at the compressor closer, I realised that the pulley has a fail-safe which shears if the compressor seizes.

Take a look around the compressor and on the under tray for bits of rubber. You can also check when the engine is running if the central part of the pulley is turning with the pulley, if it isn't the pulley has failed.

I was fortunate enough to not cause any damage to the compressor and just swapped the pulley and all has been good since

My "climatronic" flashes about a dozen times when I turn my ignition on also, it happens regardless of whether the unit is on or off when I turn the car on. My problem is similar but blowers don't really function at all, display etc all works fine showing the power up/down when I turn the nob; just no change in airflow.

Did that result in the same problem as I'm experiencing? Do you remember how much you paid for the new fan? I'm planning on taking my car around to my friends garage on the weekend if I get time so I'll post if I get to the bottom of my problem.

I've only had the car a few months and it's never really bothered me until recently when it's been boiling hot, or on Monday when it was boiling hot and raining and my whole car steamed up!! [:@]

Are you saying the blower isn't working or the fans on the radiator?

I didn't have any problems other than the air being warm. No flashing display

Radiator fan was about £50 I think

The blowers / air con don't work at all. No air comes from the "holes" when I turn them on, be it at the feet, on the dash or on the windscreen. As mentioned, the only air that comes through is that that flows through (very slightly) when I'm driving.

In saying that; when I am driving (e.g. 70mph when I can feel the air coming through slightly more than lower speeds) when I change the temperature on the climatronic, the temperature does change & as does the direction (can change to windscreen, etc)

I don't really know anything about the inner workings of the blowers or air con system, but my guess is that whatever forces the air into the cabin, is broken! It seems the climatronic unit has communication and is functioning fine apart from the lack of air.

First thing to check are the fuses. I'd then take the pollen filter out and see if I could get to the blower and turn by hand just in case some leaves are preventing in from turning. Btw the pollen filter is under the glove box
If that doesn't solve it check you are getting power to the blower

Just as an addition to my comment above, my fans do blow air in fine, so I think my issue maybe different to some of the others. I think I have the same issue as Nicko and possibly the snaze1

I haven't checked the fuses yet - thought they would be fine as the climatronic unit appears to be functioning? I'll have a look though.

Will also check the pollen filter and let you know how I get on :)

Cheers!

Hi there

Thanks for all the replies

I dont suppose you know where the broken earth wire was that Coxes fixed do yoU?

The three wires are in the loom that runs from alternator/ ac compressor under the starter motor.
It usually brakes under the battery area due to amount of movement in the tdi engines.
If a scan is done with vcds/vag.com the fault will shown as 00898 main ac+ circuit short to earth.
