Fault code 18048. What does it mean?

On the fault code list it brings up 18048 P1640 Internal Contr.Module (EEPROM) Error. But what does it mean? ECU fault?

Hello Mate

This normally means the ecu has a firmware/hardware fault

I have also seen a MAF fault in rare occasions cause this error code

Do you have a remap?

Yeah, Star Performance stage 2, but I am now running ko3 hybrid with just the 225 injectors connected, cars not complete yet u just started it up for the first time in 6 months and got that code.

Could it be that it needs the stage 3 map? Car runs fine as far as I can tell.

EEPROM is a non volatile memory chip that constitutes your ECU. These errors aren't code related though, more indicative of a problem with the physical chip although a fair few people have seen this from time to time without consequence, myself included.

Clear it and carry on would be my advice, just keep an eye out to see if it comes straight back.

Hmmm, though http://seatcupra.net/forums/showpost.php?p=468674&postcount=3 would suggest it can be code related if you're running a remap, whereby the check sum will have changed. The Revo forum is a good place to ask for more info if needed as they've responded to a few of these threads.

It won't be related to the fact you've installed new uprated parts though.

I had this error after having Stage2 loaded, cleared and (touch wood) hasn't been back since... May be sporadic, clear the error and keep an eye on it...

I have cleared it, albeit through my liquid gauge, brings the fault back up once the ignition is on, engine doesn't need to be started.
