My remap gives me approx 205bhp, from a 2.0 turbocharged engine.... i do anything between 40- 110 engine stop starts a day... i get over 46mpg, up from around 42 pre remap. I'm sure if i did longer runs my average would improve still further, but i can't see how thats disappointing!

Well you do better than me. I've averaged 42 - 44 with standard map, P-torque map, Shark map and Shark dpf map. The fuel economy has barely changed. I can get upto 50mpg if I avoid motorways, dual carriageways and my speed never goes above 60. However, 70 - 85mph on the motorway I'd be lucky to hit 44mpg. I'm more likely to average 40 - 42pmg.

You've kind of answered your own question there... driving at lower revs (well, as close as you can to peak torque, usually around 1,500rpm) will give better economy. With a normal gearbox that means around 55-60mph. Driving at >70mph is a double whammy for consumption because of the increased drag from moving faster through air.

A remap might help tweak efficiency but it can't magically improve gearing ratios or alter the laws of aerodynamics. I think you're expecting too much from your map; you need to adjust your driving style if your main goal is economy. :)

I fully understand all of the above, but I'm still not prepared to drivea t 55mph up and down the M1. Interestingly my old man's 320cdi Merc returns 35-38mpg at 55 - 60 yet is goes up as 44mpg when you get up around 80 or 90mph. Its an auto though and the gearing means peak torque in top equates to a far higher speed than us.

Does anybody whos had there DPF Deleted TDI have there MOT Test to hand? does it tell you on there what your car produced on the smoke test?

just had an Mot on mine and passed with flying colours, smoke test read 0.1 which is well below the 1.5 limit.

Nothing to worry about yet.

I keep thinking how a DE-DPF TDI 170 would be a good little track day toy. great on fuel, so lots of track time, and good economy.

My mate had a Ptorque stage 1 vRS CR TDI he was doubling the amount of laps i was managing at the ring before refueling. I was only stage 2 TFSI(running 254Hp) then, and he couldnt keep up with me at all. It was the same when we swapped cars as well. i couldnt catch him in my car.

So my question is, how does a de DPF car perform in the real life acceleration times. Has anybody undertook them? Im huge into my track days. Petrols are perfect for track and my driving style, but it is a pain in the a$$ paying huge fuel bills.

Im thinking

The DPF delete is also a remap, removing the DPF has a few plus sides; it allows more power to be had from the remap (less restriction) and also stops all the hassle of the DPF regenerating every couple of days.

Depending who you get to map the car you will see around 205 bhp with DPF still on and around 220-230 with DPF removed

How much should i expect to pay for a DPF ? Who does the best remap for a 2.0TDI FR CR DSG!?

I think the power figures quoted for the difference in the dpf and none dpf remaps is over inflated. I've had both and I can't tell the difference in power tbh.

I've had both, and there is definite improvement, up top revs, instead of tailing off due to restricted mapping because of dpf the power pulls clean over another thousand revs :)
Defo improvement, i guess it depends what dpf removal remap you have got? What did you go for georgel?

I've had the following pal.

P-Torque Dpf
Shark Dpf
Shark No Dpf

I'm going to ask Shark for a more aggressive map.

I would say that's a good idea. The WILD custom code map is aggresive compared to stage 1, the kick low down and pull high up are much greater than my stage 1 map at 205 bhp and 324 ft lbs of torque. I have heard shark's remap is more user friendly for daily use, but not as aggresive.
