Hi everyone,

I've got a(nother) FR tdi and was hoping for a bit of advice. I've had plenty of advice from you guys on here in previous years, so hoping for a bit more ;)

*Warning... Lots to read* If you cant be arsed, you have been warned.

About the car: Leon FR TDi 150 remapped to 185bhp and on 161K FSH always repaired when needed (btw) :D

1. I recently developed a noise from the tensioner on the alternator when I turned the steering wheel when stationary (when parking etc).

Was a squealing noise when turning the wheel, so I have replaced the tensioner and put a new belt on.

All was well for a couple of weeks but now the same sort of problem has occurred. Its not a squealing noise anymore, more of a knocking or rubbing noise... My first thought was needing an alternator pulley but after dealers want £55, I thought I'd ask here because for me £55 is a lot of money to just "fault find".

2. I bought a camshaft position sensor as my car had the code P3007 come up and sometimes the car wouldn't start. Car would turn over easily but just wouldn't fire... had to wait a few minutes and try again. Car would then be fine. Can anyone confirm this was the right thing to do?

3. Also I get a few different codes on the scanner like P0634 and others depending on the cylinder, usually its a different code once cleared, I had this problem come up on my old FR, which ended up being the Glow Plug wiring Harness. I have been to the Seat Stealers and bought both the camshaft sensor and the harness. Again can anyone confirm this to be the issue? I'm fairly confident but no harm in asking :D

4. I've got a serious boost leak down under the car with regards to the bottom intercooler pipes, as they have taken some hits it looks like and for a car running 185 BHP its not performing as i'd like, however I have bought a new intercooler and pipework (just need to get round to sorting it all out) but my question is: would there be any significant gains in power and MPG once its all sorted?

And 5. I've found some Nankang NS2 tyres x4 for £238 fitted... Is that a decent price? Need 4 new ones and getting them fitted ASAP as weather is getting worse.

Sorry for all the words and stuff but I'm running low on cash after all the bits I need... don't want to "waste" any more money.

Thanks everyone.

1) dont know

2) clear codes, drive and scan again. Always google for error codes, there is lots to be found! Just google for: "pxxxxx ross tech" and check what comes up

4) yes, boost leak looks cause bad performance. Fix it asap!

5) Choose other tyres...Consider Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta/Ultrac Vorti or some Uniroyal Rainsport 3

Good luck!
