Few Q's on Leon TDi Cupras

I'm in the process of buying a 2004 Leon TDi 150 Cupra, off to test drive tomorrow. What should I be looking for when driving this? Never been in one before so don't know that much about them. It is fairly high mileage 80k but hopefully that is not an issue with these cars.

All going well on Saturday and my current car gets sold then I should be picking one of these up fairly soon. Few questions if you all would be so kind enough to answer:

1. MPG, good?
2. Road Tax, how much?
3. Major servicings, when?
4. Tyres, what size are fitted as standard?

Im sure there will be more.

Thanks all

Brian

mines done 72k, and runs fine. I believe the belt should have been done at 60k, so it should have had that big job done.

I've also got a revo map, and had no problems for the last 10k, clutch is still good too.

Went to see car today but no test drive, guy I spoke to was off and car was in the middle of the showroom, typical. 80k and it is absolutely mint, I can't believe how clean it is. Struck up a deal with the garage but all depends on the test drive on Monday.....and if my current car goes tomorrow!

They are replacing a ''belt'' for me, not sure exactly which one it is though, anyone shed some light on this?

As I said, so far so good. Will look forward to driving it to see what it is like. Will certainly be a different drive from the Trophy!

Which tyres are a piopular choice on these?

Cheers for the advice so far guys.

It should be the cam belt, Don't touch it if it hasn't been done. Mine came with mich' sports, which are crap. I've now got 225/45/17 goodyear eagle f1s

Just make sure u get a service and definite guarantee that cam belt has been changed by them or proof its been done at around 60k and a good service history to go with it also if any tyres are worn too much they should replace them before u buy if u point this out to them. Then all being well welcome to seatcupra.net forums buddy.:)

Well the Cupra I went to test drive was not very good. 3rd crunched when selected and the clutch was stinking really bad after a 20 min test drive. The garage offered to fix everything before the sale but I decided to walk away.

Was a very reputable dealer but if any one is off to look nat an Onvi yellow Leon Cupra Tdi in the Glasgow area let me know and I can PM details of the garage etc.

Cheers for the help so far guys, on the look out for another one or an Ibiza Cupra TDi.

If the dealer is willing to fix the faults then I dont see a problem Rodger. I mean the may replace the gearbox and clutch so they will be brand spanking new for you...

Thats a good point and worth considering, but if something that obvious has been left without repair, i'd be suspicous of less obvious faults too. Maybe take a mate along with Vagcom to scan for faults and then accept the repair work before buying?

I thought that about the repairs too but the salesman drove for the first 5 mins of the test drive and said ''oh its only crunching because my seat is too far back''. It is defo the cheapest LC TDi on the market at the moment but with the high mileage and those faults I was just put off.

Typical salesman lol.

If your not comfortable with it then fair play mate. Find something that you are comfortable with for peace of mind.

Exactly mate. The thing is, apart from that the car was absolutely immaculate and considering the mileage not a mark on it. Bit gutted but just didn't feel right.

I know what you mean. What sort of warranty do you get from the dealer? If they are willing to change the parts and lower the price a wee bit then maybe its worth going for. If they give you an extended warranty for 6 months then great.

Might even be worth getting a vagcom done by a good tuner to see what they think...
