Finally fitted my headunit!!

and did you spray your lights with tintor is that eyelids??

Grill is by MS designs. Headlights are standard but they are Xenons and yes they are eyebrows Just sprayed the rest of her today but gota get the roof done soon

i am knew to this as you can see but how do you upload a picture of your car to have as a profile pic or do you have to wait until your a full member?? if so how long does that take!

Should be somewhere under your User CP.. Might have to wait a few more posts though, can't remember!

As Dave said, DPF = Diesel Particulate Filter. A filtering device fitted in the exhausts of FR TDIs to reduce the emissions. Good in theory but its very restrictive and causes problems to some people.

So, to clarify:

Phone rings
Stereo auto mutes
CLI / phonebook entry comes up in MFD
you hit answer button on wheel
call made
press button on wheel - hangs up call
stereo resumes doing what it was doing before (eg radio, with volume at old level).

To alter volume of call you can press volume buttons on wheel?

To make a call you can hit voice button, go through voice dialling procedure and stereo is muted, at end of the call once you hang up it unmutes the stereo and carries on as before?

If you dial on the phone the stereo auto mutes and makes the call? Hang up the call and stereo resumes it's previous action and volume?

Yeh.. Everything works perfectly as before!

Phone rings and sends an interrupt to the head unit. That cuts the music and displays 'tel' in the screen, the phone audio volume is separate to the music volume so when the music cuts back in it goes back to the previous volume. Steering controls all work to control the functions as before too.

This is VERY interesting!

You don't happen to know if the interrupt works with ANY Ai-NET Alpine headunit do you? If not I'll get on to Alpine and ask them about compatibility with my DVA-9965R about to be fitted.

Any chance you could annotate your wiring pic to say what all the black boxes are? Sorry if this is a PITA and feel free to say no!

Sorry to double post but another couple of quick questions if I may...

1. how did you identify your oem bluetooth box - is it really obvious?
2. how did you identify the correct wire on which to attach your rca plug? is there a wiring diagram avail for the stereo connectors that indicates it?

Yeh, I'll label it up for you when I get back from work. The interrupt box should work on any Alpine headunit with a standard AI Net input.

The feed from the OEM bluetooth is labelled on the quadlock coming from the back of the OEM headunit.

This is the sticker on the top of my OEM head unit..

Just need to extract the Tel AF+ and Tel AF- and solder those onto an RCA connector. The take the Tel Mute wire and attach that to the Alpine interrupt box.

Looks like you done a great job there, very tidy and certainly drummed up a great deal of interest.

When time permits I think the whole SCN community would love it if you could do a step-by-step guide install.

I for one have the standard boring stereo unit in mine (but do have the bluetooth installed).

As some olne who was thinking of ripping out the unit and replacing it with the SEAT MFD3 Sat Nav etc this is certainly looking like a better alternative!

Does you choosen unit have Ipod connectivity and full management of the pod through the display?

Once again, well done looks smart, might have to come visit one weekend with a bag of parts and a small bribe

Yeh, I'll try and write something up with the pics I have when I'm not busy in work..

The Alpine unit has full Ipod control although I don't have an Ipod. With the Ipod connector that I've routed to my glove box, there is also a USB port. I've just stuck a load of tunes on my old 2GB pen drive and use that. Reads all the track info and allows different searchs by artist, genre, album etc.. Its quite handy!

Yeh should work fine with that adapter, you'll probably need the Pioneer specific steering patch lead to go with it (only costs about £4).

The facia you need is.. 1P2858063N87. You will also need about 10 clips 3B0867190. Just order those from your local Seat dealer, think it all came to less than a tenner.

Okay seems easy enough - no need to actually locate the bluetooth module at all then, just need to tap in to the wires at the H/U end.

Nice one - no need for that labelled pic (for me anyway) as I understand what to do now!

Another case of a forum filling in some detail that those in the profession weren't aware of. I'll let my installer know how to do it

Yeh, no need to do anything with the bluetooth box! It is actually a lot easier than I thought it would be.. It was the main reason I was putting off getting an aftermarket headunit for ages. Wasn't until I spotted a guy on here had done it that I thought about doing it. Seems to slip under the radar a bit that you can merge the bluetooth with a new headunit!

Finally got round to fitting it all in my car.. After a few mishaps with buying a canbus adapter that didn't work and scratching my top heater fascia and having to order a new one!

The OEM bluetooth works perfectly, cuts out when my phone rings thanks to the little Alpine interrupt box. Sounds great and I love the way the sat nav unit slots in behind the screen and can be taken out and used in other cars.


All finished and fitted!

Hi mate, i bought the facia and clips now but i need the black case surrounding the headunit? because at the moment the plastic facia is not gonna be strong enough to hold it.

what else do i need to get it fitted?
