Hi All,

Well it finally arrived today about 1.30pm, despite the snow. My new Exeo ST Sport Tech in Nevada White.

Here's a couple of quick pics (the blue Mazda next to it is my old car).

Taken it out for a short drive to fill up with diesel, fantastic so far :) Dealer forgot the sat nav DVD so will have to wait to try that out, but otherwise all seems well.

Off out for birthday dinner tonight so no chance to drive it tonight.

I'll post more once I've had a chance to drive it a bit!

Graham

The best colour!!! Keep an eye on the headlights, and you need the spoiler & badges removing, check out my build thread, smoothed back end and spoile finishes off the car, plus cleaning around the badges is a royal pita on the white! They always look dirty!

Thanks for the comments everyone! M7R - I've seen your thread and the spoiler/de-badge does look good. I'll keep an eye on the lights too - they are OK at the moment, but to be fair the car's only done 50 miles so far.

Really pleased with it so far, although sat nav not working as dealer forgot to order the sat nav DVD... it's apparently now ordered and will be posted directly to me. Give me strength... you'd think given the huge delay on this car they might have got their act together better!

The supplying dealer was in fact Pentagon SEAT in Scunthorpe. It was delivered to me on a truck - so not driven, and only had 14 miles on it.

I was approached by two traffic policemen this morning whilst stopped at motorway services on the M23. Thought they were going to tell me there was a problem, but they were actually confused because they thought it was an Audi A4, but saw the SEAT badge and came for a closer look! Shows how rare these actually are on the road - I've not seen another face-lifted model on the road at all.

A quick question too for those with ST's - does the mesh blind that separates the boot from the car interfere with the auto-dipping rear view mirror working? I've not had a chance to drive at night yet so not sure but wondered if it did.

Also - I noted that mine does not have the "Sport Tech" badges on the trim on the rear doors. M7R - from your pics it doesn't look like yours does either?

Looking forward to some dry, warmer weather (fat chance!) so I can give it a good clean and get some Werkstatt Acrylic Gloss on it...

Cheers for now,

Graham

Glad your enjoying it Graham, re the Sports Tech badges, the 143 ST Sports Tech I looked at at the Dealers definately had the badges on the trim on the rear doors, that was an un-registered model so brand new.

Also does anyone know if using the SD cards in the head unit to play music, can you select it to shuffle/random ?

Mark

there are very few face lift models around, esp as its only the sports that have the new black HIDs... all other models have the normal halogen lamps.

The mesh will affect the auto dim, however it acts as a very good sun shield anyway so will stop alot of the bright lights from behind you... the oe tinted rear windows also affects it, mine doesnt dim as much as my old mk4 golf with auto dim did due to the light hitting the sensor being cut down due to the tint.

to be honest with the tinted rear window, and the mesh up you wont see sod all out the back anyway, esp at night.

Mine had the tech badges, but they were whipped off along with all the other badges one eve... took a couple of hours to do the full car, firstly do it on a warm day, use dental floss to cut the badge off, then peel the rest of the foam sticker off, and use autogly tar remover to get off the stubbon bits, and the glue left. Then give the areas where they were a good wash and 3 or 4 coats of wax to get rid of the final glue residue.

it makes it soo much easier to clean, better looking, and confuses people as like you say it like a A4... but doesnt... and has the big S badge on it which people dont expect

The tech badges maybe a dealer fit item...so could have been left off, or they have been dropped for cost cutting?

Troll - yes you can shuffle music on the SD card,

Cheers Karl. I suspect it's cost-cutting! (or maybe they've run out and aren't making any more)

Just replied to one of your other posts on the Leon Mk1 FR+ too - did you ever get one of those? I had a 53-plate Leon Cupra TDI, and a 55-plate early 2006 FR+ TDI - both great cars, but both had the same faults develop.

I traded in for a Leon Mk2 FR TSI DSG, but I unfortunately had to sell that after just a year to buy my business partner out. That was a great car.

I've had a Mazda 6 estate (Mk1 facelift) for the last 3 years - glad to see the back of that (poorly built, unreliable and expensive to run - Mazda definitely not as good as their reputation!)

The Exeo feels in a different league than the Mazda 6 - but then the Audi A4 was too.

Seen your reply, I didn't get one in the end, settled on a late b6 A4 instead... Not been the joy it was ment to be due to previous owner syndrome, but now I have sorted most of the problems it should be a good run around..

I still prefer the exeo for looks a d ride though... And the rs4 rear arb that is going on this spring should make it even better!

Thanks for the SD card answer M7R. Another quick Q, what Towbar did you get in the end? I will need to buy one as we have just bought a pikey box, and it will be better to tow it with my new Exeo (when it arrives) than our Disco.

cheeRS,
Mark

In the end we got a exeo with a oe Towbar, far easier and less hassle... However I would personally use a westfalia hidden detachable, also change the black plastic valance as there is a oe one with a removable panel for access to the Towbar and wiring,

Also get the proper wiring kit, as it turns off the parking sensors in reverse, and stops the fouling by being put on when the trailer is attached, it only puts the trailers fog light on.

I am also not 100% sure if the abs and traction control settings are changed, if they are then it is another reason for a proper install as the insurance won't payout if anything happens and it can be shown that had the proper kit fitted that activated stability settings the accident wouldn't have happened...

It also makes for a neater install, it does cost more but trust me it is worth it! You have spent 20k on the car don't skimp! Also speak to your dealer, mine could supply and fit. Oe detachable with oe electrics for £300 or so, which is not bad, ESP as it won't void the warranty... A canbus bypas would as you are tapping in the oe electrics

Thanks for your answer, I will get some quotes for a O.E towbar off my local dealer.

Well mine has arrived too, and it looks like it's coming from Pentagon Seat in Nottingham as the number plate starts FL13.

Its being delivered to me next wednesday as I am away for Easter till then. Exciting stuff, the only decision now is which car to drive as the Focus RS will be coming out of winter hibernation next week too.

Hi Mark

Excellent news! That was quicker than expected wasn't it? Bet you can't wait for next Weds!

If Pentagon SEAT in Nottingham are similar to their Scunthorpe branch - check the service book has been stamped for the PDI and filled in (mine wasn't, I've had to send it back), and that they give you the satnav DVD. 2 weeks later - I'm still waiting for both of these two items.

Also check over your car really thoroughly. The preparation of mine was pretty poor (on the face of it it looked OK, but a closer look revealed lots of 'smudges' all over the car where polish/wax hadn't been buffed off properly, only visible in artificial light; inside was pretty grimey and had been given a "very quick dust over", not a proper wipe with a damp cloth which I had to do; the windows were filthy inside with lots of finger marks on; the wheels have some odd black "scuff" marks on. Looks like it's where they've been caught with a hose pipe/vacuum cleaner hose or similar and I think they will polish off, but annoying). Also the number plate screw caps are all missing - pure laziness and makes the car look cheap!

The overall impression was of a "get it done quick and bang it out" PDI. Particularly disappointing given that they had it almost a month before it was delivered to me.

2 weeks after having mine - I'm loving the car! I've been doing mostly town driving with a couple of longer (15 mile) journeys to my parents. But today - I had 2 x 1 hour motorway journeys to do. So far my average mpg per the computer is 47 which is excellent considering the car's only done 200 miles so far, and I'm quite heavy-footed. Some diesel-fans might say that's not great - but coming from a Mazda 6 that struggled to get above 30mpg, it's massively better for me.

I've now seen 1 other Exeo ST Sport Tech in white with facelifted headlights, in a village near where I live. Mine gets lots of looks as people try to work out what it is, it's great.

Heated seats are brilliant, well worth having, and the Xenon headlights are superb (no melting yet, Karl!). The handling is good, performance is also great - almost on a par with a (diesel) Leon FR. Comparing my car to my uncle's brand new Audi Q5 (which he's had a load of trouble with already), the (same) engine in the Exeo is much quieter, inside and out. And the Exeo was almost half its price!

The one thing I'm slightly underwhelmed with (other than the supplying dealer), is the stereo. I just expected more from a Bose audio system. Judging from what others said, I was expecting crystal clear sound from CDs (or even MP3s on a memory card), and it just isn't. The best way of describing the sound is slightly "muddy" rather than it having clarity. Maybe my expectation was too high. It's OK, and certainly not a bad system/sound, but not quite as good as I was expecting.

Overall - very pleased so far, just want some warm/dry weather to get some Werkstat Acrylic Gloss on it !! (but have tried Nanolex Washcoat in the meantime, which works excellently).

Yes its a little sooner than expected, they wanted to deliver it on tuesday but I am on holiday then so I got to wait until the Wednesday. It will certainly be better than the Quashqai I currently am driving..

I will give the car a good look over don't worry, altho like you I do like cleaning cars so it will get a good clean and wax/seal the following weekend.

I was down yr way last night, I had to collect something from Barns Green, didn't see any Seat Exeo's at all...

so you have only done 200 miles ! Blimey what you been doing. I will do that on the first 2 days as I travel 100 miles to work and back every day!!

So looking forward to finally getting it.

I'll put some pics up next wednesday when it arrives.

Mark

Hi Mark

Small world - I grew up in Barns Green, my parents still live there (on the corner of The Hordens).

Shout if you're ever over this way - we could grab a coffee and compare Exeo ST's...!

Been v. busy with work and unfortunately not out of the office much over the last couple of weeks - I only live a mile from the office so not much chance to use the car much.

Look forward to the pics! Bet Easter will go very slowly for you now...!

Cheers,

Graham

Same issues with Pentagon Scunthorpe. Caught the Train up from London to collect. Had asked dealer to put on Euro plates as I was off to France the following week, they didn't bother to do it or tell me they hadn't. The Sat Nav wasn't loaded, one of the keys wasn't programmed and a mat was missing. Also prior to purchase I was told it had been given a service. No evidence in the Service Book, only after 3 weeks of chasing did I get a service document throughq the post. This car was only 1 yr old and was a Seat owned vehicle with only 3500 miles on the clock. Also because of work commitments I asked to collect the vehicle on a Saturday. I was told it wasn't the dealership policyqq to allow collections on a Saturday

Posted before I had quite finished
Not sure quite how you collect a car from them if you work full time

Anyway, Car is great but beware of Pentagon!

Hi ade109 / all

I've now had my car for 7 weeks - and STILL no service book or satnav dvd from Pentagon! In my case it's slightly more complex as I bought my car (brand new) via internet broker buyacar.co.uk. Pentagon were the supplying dealer (they delivered it on a truck so I didn't have to collect it). I've never heard of a dealership that didn't like people collecting cars on a Saturday, that sounds odd!

Pentagon also missed the fact that one of the windows on my car did not have the black tint, when they did the PDI. My local SEAT dealer were amazed that they'd missed it as it's one of the items on the PDI checklist (mind you - so is the satnav and the service book stamping, one would assume...).

According to buyacar.co.uk, Pentagon have posted my service book back to me 4 times now... yet it still miraculously gets "found" when I chase it. In other words - they have blatantly lied (I believe Pentagon are the problem, not buyacar.co.uk).

After many (20+) emails and calls to buyacar.co.uk, the last I heard (Friday) was that they are going to buy the satnav DVD direct from Navteq and bill it to Pentagon. If both items haven't arrived with me by 31st April I'm going to start legal proceedings against them as I've had enough.

I've also got SEAT UK involved - they are in the process of contacting Pentagon to find out what on earth is going on.

My parents are about to have a Leon delivered via buyacar.co.uk too - probably also supplied by Pentagon. They will be rejecting the car if anything at all is missing, based on my experience.

Absolutely loving the car though - definitely the best car I've owned, and so rare on the road. I can't believe how good the fuel economy is too - I've only filled up with diesel once so far! (admittedly I've only done 700 miles though)

Agree with you re. Pentagon though - beware! Easily the worst and most frustrating experience I've ever had with a dealer (and there have been quite a few over the years, including 4 previous SEATs, Mazda, Peugeot, Volvo, VW).

I must just add - the customer service I received from my local SEAT dealer, Crawley Down SEAT, was first class. They organised the replacement window on my car under warranty within a week, even collected and delivered my car. Very friendly and helpful service too - they even rang Pentagon on my behalf to chase up the satnav and service book... but got nowhere!

I'll keep you posted with what happens with my service book and satnav. Enjoy your Exeo!

Cheers,

Graham
