FinerDetails of an Ibiza Cupra

The owner said "It's multi-coloured and has been left un-loved for quite a while she said".

Three words: Oh, My, God!!!

I kid you not, what the following pictures cannot communicate to you is the roughness of the paintwork. It was SO rough I would compare it to 1200 wet and dry sand paper. Then there was the fungus and moss build up, and lastly underneath all of that was hiding swirled and heavily oxidised paint, somewhere....

She wanted the car detailed to look and feel like a loved Cupra should, and she also wanted the subtle paint colour to look as shiny and wet as possible.

Firstly I washed the car, then dried it. (I'll let tigger explain about the four inch sponge and the rear window moss line).

Next I clayed the whole car - this took an hour to do as the paintwork was so rough. Using sonas clay and a spray lance to apply lub to a panel at a time. I also got Tigger to do some claying once she had got over hearing the noise as the clay did its initial work.

Once clayed I set about removing the swirls and oxidisation. Using Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner polish and a 4inch cutting pad I spent the next 90 mins polishing, repeating and buffing. The paintwork was just soaking the product in, eating away for all the years of starvation from love and treatments.

Once full cleaned and polished, I applied a layer of NXt to the whole car. Whilst this cured I applied Meguiars NXT metal polish to the rims, and simoniz Glass polish to the exterior glass. (Think I had to stop for a tea break too at this point).

I then buffed the NXT off the car before showing tigger the options for the last wax topper. Having decided on a hard wax I explained to Tigger I would be 'spit shining' the wax to get the extra wetness from the wax, and also to improve the durabilty of the wax. Using a 4 inch finshing pad, Meguiars quick detailing and meguiars Number 16 wax I covered the whole car and left to cure for 30 minutes. Whilst the wax cured I buffed the alloys and applied Meguiars High Endurance Tyre shine gel to the treads.

Having removed the wax, and also the glass polish I then removed the masking tape and applied Meguiars Gold Class Trim detailer to all the black plastics.

take it 'Tigger' is the owner of the car in question, and has now been suitably chastised and shown the error of her ways in not looking after the car?
