Fitting Parking Sensors

Hey all. First of all, I'm new so hello to you all. Just got an 02 Toledo SE TDI 110 and its smoooooth, well compared to my Mazda 323 before anyway! Looking to get a REVO map at some point as there is a dealer near me. Hope the clutch will be ok, i've heard the turbo will take it fine though .

Anyway.... noticed by now that its a big boot that sticks out and you can't really see any of it when reversing!! Trying my luck atm, but would like some parking sensors for peace of mind.

.... anybody tried fitting any themselves? Looks easy enough, but never know really until you start doing it. Tried a forum search, but could not really find anything conclusive.

Cheers,

Tom.

Yeah, I fitted them to my 2001 toledo, not the easiest to fit, I had to half remove the rear bumper to get access.

I can't remember where I ran the cable through into the car though, there must have been a grommet there or something.

Also, if you're planning on having the beeper in the boot, make sure it is LOUD!!, the rear seats do a remarkably good job of muffling it... And my sub for that matter...

Mines were dealer fitted, I really wouldn't be without it now though as it is quite a difficult car to get into tight spaces. Like rk696 says it can be quite hard to hear if the speaker is in the boot and the stereo is blasting, I have considered routing mine to the front.

are they easy to fit into the bumper or can you only get those stick on ones?

They're easy to fit and drill etc, it's just a bit of an awkward job to get the cable through to the boot. Like I said before, I had to half remove the rear bumper to get access.

I had a go fitting them last weekend, got a lot of the bumber off, found the gromet, right pain [:@] but....... bottled fitting them because the reversing light is in the boot lid and bottled trying to wire it up there. Going to get APD-VAG near me to fit it now along with do the REVO tuning.

I just traced the wire back from the reverse light to where it passes behind the plastic panel inside the boot (where the boot cigarette lighter socket is) easy to splice it into there.

Mine also has a display and speaker which I ran up to the dashboard.... was not too hard to do, just removed all the lower trim down the passenger side of the car

Hi All,

Could I please ask, to those who have taken the back bumper off, is it a difficult project?

I have a set of four sensors which I need to fit to complete the package (the display, module & wiring have been installed - by me - for about four months now but I keep putting the last bit off).

I have looked at taking the bottom 'black' section off but (i) i'm not sure if this is enough and (ii) I'm not completely sure how many torx screws are involved.

If anyone has any pics to back this up then I (and maybe others too) would be really grateful!
